"What's with the black background?" I hear you ask...

If you've been around here for a while, you'll know that most of my work tends to be light, bright and full of context. I love photographing people in the environments where they live, work and create because those details help tell the story of who they are and what they do.

That said, I've noticed a couple of my Creative Partnership clients have requested studio-style imagery to sit alongside their lifestyle photographs.

When Fan () and I started talking about her latest shoot, she was clear that she wanted a cleaner, more editorial feel to her images — something that would resonate with the London and international clients she's looking to attract, whilst still feeling completely authentic to who she is.

So rather than heading outdoors or into a venue, we chose a more studio-inspired approach. The result? Fresh, modern imagery that feels elevated, professional and completely aligned with where her business is heading next.

And, as always, there was plenty of laughter along the way. I genuinely don't think I've ever done a shoot with Fan that wasn't an absolute hoot.

It's such a privilege to help clients not only show where their brand is today, but where they're going tomorrow.

A little peek behind the curtain...

On Monday, Fan and I experimented with a location I’d never used for a brand shoot before — and I have to say, it worked rather beautifully.

The brief was to create something cleaner, more polished and more editorial than previous shoots. Imagery that would appeal to the London and international clients she’s looking to attract, whilst still feeling unmistakably *her*.

What you don’t see in the final images is all the moving furniture, tweaking outfits, adjusting hair, changing angles and, of course, the endless laughter that happens in between.

One of my favourite things about working with clients on a retainer is that every shoot builds on the last. We know each other better, we’re clearer on the vision, and there’s a level of trust that allows us to be more creative and push things a little further.

Safe to say there was plenty of laughter, a lot of creativity and a few moments where we looked at the back of the camera and went, “Oh yes... that’s the one.”

I can’t wait to share the final images with you.

I've had a flurry of gorgeous shoots these last few weeks.

Being in the wedding industry for many years, I've got some great contacts with some of the best suppliers, and a number of these turn to me as a trusted partner for their brand photography.

() have just secured me as their Creative Partner and at the end of April I headed over to the Cotswolds to capture some beautiful wedding styling "looks" they'd done for the .events Open Day.

Having photographed for both companies, it was a joy to be there and hang out with them all. Think sunshine, great coffee (see a theme here!), sweet treats provided by the lovely (the iced coffee with the journey home was especially appreciated, Anna!) and glorious display of beauty.

You can take the woman out of weddings, but I'll never stop being a sucker for pretty things!

Securing me as Creative Partner to bring seasonal content to life and I headed to Bath for what we always knew would be a fabulous day. Supported by a great team, we rattled through the shots with only a Milanote board (and our brains) to keep us going.

There was so much to say about this shoot and this woman, but for now I'll let the images speak for themselves.

Full circle moments like this are always a bit special.

I photographed Tara and Alan’s wedding nearly 19 years ago… and this week, Alan was back in front of my camera — this time for brand photography.

Some things haven’t changed at all. It genuinely felt like we’d just seen each other yesterday — same connection, just a very different context this time. From wedding vows and flowing dresses to hard hats, technical details and a very considered shot list.

This shoot was all about positioning Alan as a trusted expert in his field. Think expert witness work, sustainability, and imagery that meets the standards of governing bodies — clear, credible, and professional.

A bit of a shift for me too — I’m often on location creating softer, more personal brand imagery, so working with a different style, a very structured brief and in my studio was a shift (and one I really enjoyed).

But at the heart of it, it’s still the same thing — telling someone’s story in a way that feels authentic, aligned, and true to who they are.

Such a joy to see you again after all these years, Alan.

There’s something really special about a first shoot.

After a number of Zoom calls getting to know each other, it was such a joy to finally meet James and Clara () in person and step into their world for the very first time.

For this first session, we focused on the foundations — capturing a little of everything to begin building their image library. From beautiful food details, to relaxed yet professional portraits of them both, each showcasing their individual role within the business… all the essentials that tell the story clearly and confidently.

And what a setting to do it in — their space in Bradford-on-Avon is absolutely gorgeous. Thoughtfully designed, full of character, and the perfect backdrop for their brand.

This is exactly why I love working on a retainer.

We don’t need to do everything at once. Instead, we create strong, considered foundations — and then continue to build, layer, and refine over time.

This is just the beginning…

If I could choose a few simple luxuries in life, fresh flowers every week would be high on the list.
(Alongside, obviously, a swimming pool in the garden… one can dream. 😉)

This beautiful arrangement was photographed as part of an interiors shoot for a truly gorgeous wedding venue in Devon, in the midst of a thoughtful rebrand. For me, great brand and interiors photography is always about the full picture — the spaces, the people, and the quieter details that bring everything to life.

It’s these finishing touches that reveal the care, personality and passion of the owners, and help a venue feel not just beautiful, but felt.

There’s nothing I love more than working with brands over time — building familiarity, trust and imagery that grows alongside them.

So I’m really excited to be heading back to for our next shoot together. Our first session was such a joy — full of laughter, great energy and genuinely lovely humans — and I can’t wait to build on that and continue shaping their visual story as we go.

I have so much fun on my photoshoots. Honestly, I can’t tell you how much I’ve laughed over the years — and that relaxed atmosphere is something I care deeply about creating for my clients too.

This shoot in London was such a hoot. We had a really clear idea of the imagery we wanted to create, but getting there involved plenty of experimentation, movement, silliness and laughter along the way. The kind of shoot where you try something, burst out laughing, try again… and then realise you’ve captured something brilliant.

The best work happens: when everyone feels relaxed, held and able to fully lean into the process. Because yes, the imagery matters — but so does how it feels to create it. And when clients feel comfortable, confident and genuinely enjoy the experience, it always shows in the final images.

Gosh , when I look at these images I realise how far we have both come!

We thought we both knew ourselves, "had it sorted" and were winning at life. Now look at us!
