He's not the most handsome of young stags, but he gave me a fright.
I was sitting waiting to see what would turn up, I then saw a tiny movement, at first I thought it was a mountain hare as it was only the tops of his ears, then he slowly looked over the rise straight at me, a bit freaky to be honest.

I was conducting one of my Workshops a few years back and with the dolphins, you never really know when and where they are going to jump, if at all.
My clients found it quite frustrating as they seemed to not be quite quick enough and lucky enough to be honest.
You really do have to be focused on what your doing with this subject matter, and of course lucky.

I don't normally post anything upsetting or sad with my wildlife but thus got me.
I photographed her a while back and was thrilled to see she had given birth to three cubs, only to find her about three months after giving birth dead, I think from an infection, two of her cubs perished and I never saw the third again.
Absolutely heartbreaking.

I always wanted to capture a Mallard taking off from a river so quite pleased with this.
I had the picture in mind but if im honest this wasn't what I was thinking.
I wanted to capture the bird running along the water on take off, water splashing everywhere etc, but this bird took off after about only 4 runs, but wuite pleased none the same, I like this image because its got more water running off that the other images.

I photographed this fox cub a few years back, my image really doesn't show it well be he was absolutely tiny, even his coat wasn't fully in yet.
I lay on my stomach for what seemed like an eternity, I knew they were in a thicket and that luck woukd have to be on my side because if they came out they could head in any direction.
Luckily this little stunner headed right out in my direction and because I was so low down and covered he didnt even know I was there.
After it all passed, all 12 seconds of it, I sat up and just smiled, a very special moment.

I shot this last summer, the female on the left is tolerating the male, this courting business can be tricky, but they both went on to produce a family and all survived.

I took this shot of a stag on the Isle of Mull, and if im being totally honest, it was a miserable day, torrential rain, the type of rain that seems to seep into your very bones and I sat in a woodland on the side of a high hill.
After about 4hrs of nothing accept rain, I saw a movement and out he came, he was magnificent in stature, I only got about 6 frames but noticed he was eyeing me up and stomping with his feet on the ground, a sign all is not good with him, I retreated safely allowing him to go about his business, I have never forgotten that brief encounter, or the that rain !
