There are some weddings that stay with you long after you’ve packed your cameras away and A+W’s was undoubtedly one of them.

A garden wedding in the height of summer, overflowing with florals, colour and that effortless sense of abundance that feels both timeless and impossibly joyful. Every detail invited you to slow down and simply soak it all in. From wandering through the gardens to lingering over drinks in the evening sunshine, it felt like one of those rare Scottish summer days you wish could last forever.

Winton Castle couldn’t have been a more fitting setting. Its beautiful grounds became part of the celebration itself with the soft golden light wrapping everything in the kind of warmth every couple dreams of for their wedding day.
Being there to witness and capture it all was such a privilege. The joy was tangible, the atmosphere completely infectious, and by the end of the evening it was impossible not to feel as though you’d been welcomed into something incredibly special.

If this is your reminder to embrace an outdoor Scottish wedding, let it be this one. And with summer apparently making a return next week, it feels like the perfect excuse to relive a little sunshine, joy and colour!

Phoebe & Jonny took their group photos yesterday to the next level - literally! We all lucked out at sunny Dundas Castle with some warm, dry Scottish weather, so when the glowing evening light came we went out for some more golden light portraits. When we came back, the guests were basking in the evening light outside the Pavillion. What followed was a beautiful evening of fun, laughter and lifting people up. And then it was to a vigorous ceilidh to finish the spectacular day. Congratulations Phoebe and Jonny, it was a magical day with you and your families and friends!

To ease any pre-wedding nerves Kim and Lewis decided to do ‘a first touch’ before their wedding at Dundas Castle last weekend.

When the bride and her crew got ready, the groom came upstairs but stayed around the corner so that not to see his bride, their fingers just touched and they had a quick chat. It was a beautiful private moment and we were very honoured to be able to capture this for them. It really helped to calm their nerves.

This sweet couple wrote their own vows and when their very personal ceremony was over it was time to party and enjoy a summery, sunny day in Scotland!

Ben and Sidney’s first look must be the most unique one we’ve ever captured in our careers as wedding photographers in Scotland!

The morning started with Sidney ready early - she snuck out of the villa to the golf course and swapped a flag over the 13th golf hole where they arranged to meet with Ben with one embroidered with their new family name.

After Ben arrived at the spot, we came back and let me tell you, I have never been driven by a fully dressed bride (veil and all) in a golf buggy before - thank you for my lift Sidney! However, the bride could not meet her groom straight away as someone was just completing that hole and golf course etiquette is to wait your turn, even if you are a groom in a white tuxedo and black tie, waiting to see his bride for the first time! So when the golfers finally moved on it was time for Sidney to meet Ben and we all cheered (including their bridesmaids and groomsmen watching from the villa’s balcony). It was such a joyful moment and not just for the couple!

‘We absolutely love our photos, you captured the day beautifully. Thank you also for everything from start to finish. We really enjoyed working with you, and several of our guests commented on how lovely you both were.’ Awww thank you Sarah and Paul!

We’ve just delivered a full gallery of images to Sarah and Paul and looking at these brought back so many lovely moments that naturally unfolded on the day: excitement of the preparations, grandeur of the ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral, quietness of the private gardens and the cosiness of the hotel’s lobby where we grabbed some more portraits of our couple.

Contemporary minimalism of The Hoxton perfectly suited this stylish, elegant and calm wedding day. It was such a pleasure to be part of it all. Plus, The Hoxton also does a rather nice matcha, iykyk!

It was special to catch up with Anita and Tom just a month after their wedding at Dunkeld in Scotland, to document the second part of their nuptials, this time taking place near Manchester. We started early in the day to avoid crowds and harsh light. I just wanted them simply to be in the moment, while enjoying their company and the beautiful gardens.

The light was beautiful, the bees were buzzing about in the flowers (just look at this magnificent pink rhododendrons!) and all the moments were being captured as they unfolded.

Thank you for having me Anita and Tom, it was wonderful and special to spend the day with you and your families again, this time in sunny England!

This last Saturday we had a pleasure of capturing a beautiful day with Dionne and Steven in spectacular Chatelherault! With guests coming from all over the world (some for the first time back in Scotland after decades abroad) it was a very special day for our couple and their families and they all celebrated wholeheartedly. Sometimes we really have to pinch ourselves that we get a chance to be part of so many special and private moments as two strangers with cameras who are there for the day with access to all that is happening. Thank you Dionne and Steven for making us feel so welcome and truly as a part of a family!

‘Wow these are incredible! We completely love them, just what we had wanted! We’re more than happy for you guys to share them - go crazy! Thank you for being such a fun part of our day - we had the best time :)’ - was the message from our bride and groom when we sent them some preview images.

We were basking in Kayla and Sam’s infectious energy all day long and captured so many fantastic, heartfelt moments during their celebrations at Wedderburn Barns - with a beautiful ceremony outside in the yard and with grounds of the castle nearby to enjoy. Thank you for having us and thank you for being so generous with your happiness, love and enthusiasm! P.S. Thank you for the sweetest mention of us in your speech Sam! We should probably go and do a squat now

Nothing beats a beautiful Scottish summer wedding where everyone can hang out outdoors in the sunshine. Rosebery Steading with their spacious courtyard and comfy accommodation fits that description perfectly. It really means a lot when our couples don’t have far to go and we can simply nip out of their drinks reception for a short while to capture some portraits in the dreamiest wee orchard just outside the gates.

Here are some images from this sweet summer day, celebrating with Wave and Kyle in Scotland a couple of weeks ago. It was an absolute joy and a pleasure to capture it all for them!
