Exploring an abandoned nunnery and convent in Hastings, East Sussex🏚️

It was abandoned due to declining numbers of nuns and the phenomenal, unmanageable cost of maintaining the aging, extensive buildings!

It has suffered severe neglect and a suspected deliberate fire. The site remains derelict and fenced off for now..

Follow me for the next post where we discover a cannabis factory in here😲

Exploring an abandoned church in Hastings, East Sussex🏚️

What a beautiful building this one is!

It was abandoned due to falling attendance, exorbitant maintenance costs, and subsequent property neglect following its sale by the religious order!

This church building is connected to an abandoned nunnery, school and convent which I will post soon!

TERRIFYING abandoned mental/lunatic asylum in Brighton, East Sussex! 🏚️

It housed mentally imbalanced and psychologically damaged individuals back in the 1940's. Originally housed “gymnasium” style, harsh living conditions and extended stays lead to patient deaths and staff disappearances!!!

The site was gradually abandoned and boarded up because the 19th-century buildings were cramped, riddled with asbestos, and did not meet modern 21st-century healthcare standards.

It is currently in active, high-stakes negotiations regarding its redevelopment, following years of delays and pandemic-related pauses.

Because the land was originally gifted to the people of Brighton, it has sparked a massive political push to prevent it from being sold to private developers.

Exploring the aftermath of the burnt down carehome in Eastbourne, East Sussex🏚️

It went out of use due to severe financial pressures and the high costs of upgrading aging buildings to meet modern care guidelines. Following its closure, the building was left empty.

The large empty building then suffered a severe fire when it was set ablaze by arsonists, leaving the structure at risk of collapse.

ABANDONED hotel in Lewes, East Sussex

Another great explore on this place with plenty more photos!

It closed its doors at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and was never reopened. The 16th-century, Grade II listed building fell into abandonment because it was left without maintenance by its owners!

Exploring what’s left of the abandoned girls private school in Eastbourne East Sussex🏚️

It became abandoned after the school closed in March 2020 due to severe financial losses and declining pupil numbers. Despite a 2018 merger, the school could not sustain operations, leaving the buildings vacant and subsequently severely damaged by a, believed deliberate, arson attack in October!

Following a devastating fire on October 19, 2025, that left the historic building unsafe, plans have been submitted in April 2026 to demolish the remains of the fire-ravaged girls school in Eastbourne and rebuild it as part of a 52-home residential development.
