A great way to find out about fostering and sporting the shelter 😊

🐾Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter – All About Fostering open days! 🐾

Have you ever thought about fostering a rescue animal, but aren’t quite sure what’s involved?

We’re holding two relaxed All About Fostering open days here at the Shelter, giving anyone interested in fostering the chance to come along, meet our team and find out what being a foster carer is really like. 💙

We’ll talk you through:
🐶 How the fostering process works
🏡 What you can expect as a foster carer
💙 The support you’ll receive from our team
🐾 Why foster homes are so important for some of the animals in our care

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of our residents, chat with current foster carers about their experiences, and speak directly with our Fostering Manager, who’ll be on hand throughout the days to answer your questions and talk through anything you’d like to know about fostering.

Whether you’re seriously considering fostering or simply curious about whether it could be right for you, we’d love you to come along and find out more.

We’re particularly looking for dog foster carers at the moment, so these days will have a greater focus on fostering our canine residents.

Today is International Dog Day 🐾🥰

Sending all of our love to all of the gorgeous dogs out there, don't know where our family would be without our dogs ❤️

A huge shout out to all of the charities as well, who are doing a fabulous job of rescuing all animlas and helping them find their forever homes.

Karen and the beautiful Bella came back for their reveal session last night, and it was so lovely to see how thrilled Karen was with Bella’s gallery. ❤️

Karen had previously seen the photograph of Maisie with my LOVE lights and loved it, so of course we had to create something similar for Bella!

Bella was an absolute superstar for her shoot and posed beautifully amongst the lights.

Karen has chosen one of these images as a statement piece of wall art in a canvas tray frame. I think the dark frame will be the perfect contrast against the soft pink background — and, of course, beautiful Bella.

I can’t wait to see it finished and ready for Karen’s wall. 🩷

At Land of Oak & Iron’s Bark in the Park, I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Minnie and her owner Emma, who runs Watt-a-Walk.

Minnie wasn’t too sure about the pop-up studio or having her photo taken — but she was such a sweetheart!

I’ve been enjoying some lovely family sessions at Herrington Country Park recently, including this one with Sam and her family.

Family sessions are relaxed and led by the children — there’s no need for everyone to sit still or be on their best behaviour!

It’s a beautiful morning this morning for a walk this morning and it’s amazing what a little bit of rain can do. We’ve come across this beautiful fungi, Meripilus giganteus, at the base of an old tree in our local park 😊

I first met Frankie and her owner Gina, a few years ago at the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter Fayre. Since then I have photographed Frankie J on numerous occasions, then a lovely surprise last month Jazzy has joined their lovely family. Gina wanted a photo of the two dogs together but didn't think it could be done - challenge accepted!

Frankie & Jazzy were perfect, despite all of the noises and distractions that were going on, and Gina now has a lovely image of her beautiful dogs 😍🐾
