After 25 years of taking photographs, I sometimes wonder what it is that keeps me coming back. Cameras have changed, photography has changed, and the way we consume images has changed. But the reason I take photographs remains surprisingly simple: I like to notice things. The light, the details, the moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Photography gives me a reason to look, and after all these years, I’m still looking. For World Photography Day, I’ve written a little about why I’m still in love with taking photographs after all these years.

It’s Afternoon Tea Week so I couldn’t think of a better time to share this blog. 🫖🌸
This photoshoot for baker Annette of Annette's Baking in a box was a riot of colour, beautiful baking and very good company.
The table was already set when I arrived, vintage china, flowers, linen, cake stands and an extraordinary spread of handmade bakes. But it was the little moments that really brought the photographs to life: hands reaching for cake, tea being poured, pastries being passed around, friends chatting and laughing.
Because sometimes the best photographs happen when nobody is really thinking about the camera.

July, you were rather lovely. ☀️

A month stitched together with sunshine, buzzing bees, beach walks, beautiful food, a birthday, photoshoots, celebrations, home grown vegetables, champagne toasts and long conversations around tables.

Here’s to making time for good food, good people, fresh air and finding beauty in the everyday.

Some meals deserve more than a few photographs.
Our evening at the chef's table at Restaurant Pine was one of them. Watching every course come together just inches away from us made the whole experience feel incredibly special.
