There’s a lot of debate on posing, guiding, candids within the wedding industry and photography as a whole. But to me it boils down to this one thing.
This has been sitting on my mind for months now and within the last month I separately was telling my coach and my therapist how I worked with people as a photographer, and they asked me why the hell I wasn’t talking about it in my marketing or on my socials. So I’ve been drafting my thoughts, thinking of the perfect way to wrap it up, but today I woke up and decided today is the day. It might not be perfect, it might not cover everything there is to say. But I hope it makes sense and finds its audience.

I love going for a stroll around town for photos because of all the unexpected colours and textures that become part of your wedding photos and your story.

This is what photographs of getting ready can look like at the Cathedral Lodge. A mere 5 min away from the City Wall ceremony space, so it’s perfect for getting ready on the morning of your wedding.

Happy anniversary to J & L!
(yes, one day later🙈)
Remembering this wedding always puts a smile on my face. There was so much love all around, so much music, so much laughter. The pure unfiltered unstaged joy that will keep reminding me for years to come why I love photographing weddings, and especially weddings like these. Where the genuine emotions are palpable.

You would have been 7 years old today.
It’s only been 2 days without you and it’s unbearable. And unbelievable.

I never thought I’d have a dog but the moment I saw you, that was it. You brought so much into my life, I can’t even put it into words. I might have a song about Kali, but I never could find the right words for you Shaman because there’s just so much more than words. I’ve never loved anyone like you. And I still can’t put into words everything that I’m feeling.
You had the softest ears. You had the sweetest, smartest eyes. You had the biggest paws. You were so beautiful. The bestest boy.
You moved with us across continents to different countries. You were the best travel companion. You were home.
And now it’s so quiet and empty without you.

I cannot comprehend how it only took 15 days to go from normal life with so many more beach trips and happy days ahead to this emptiness. These 15 days felt more like weeks. And yet all it took to take you away was just 15 days.

Shaman, you will always be my heart and soul.
