A pretty special result and one that’s particularly close to home. 🏆⛵️
I spend a lot of my working life behind the camera filming offshore racing for RORC, so I get to see first-hand just how much goes into competing at this level.
This time my brother and the team aboard Pace, a Volvo 70, have just won the RORC Round Britain and Ireland Race overall.
Pace was only bought in February, and since then my brother and the team have worked incredibly hard to get her ready.
There’s a huge amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to prepare a Volvo 70 for a race like this. To get Pace to the start line in such a short space of time, race her all the way around Britain and Ireland without any breakages, and then come away with the overall win is an amazing achievement.
It’s a real testament to the preparation that went into the boat, as well as the team that sailed her.
And what a team — an amazing line-up of sailors on board, backed by a really fantastic owner, and I know my brother had a great time racing with them.
Pace is an absolutely incredible boat, and it’s fantastic to see all that hard work pay off.
I might be slightly biased, but I know just how good my brother is at what he does, and I’m incredibly proud of him and the whole team.
From buying Pace in February to winning the RORC Round Britain and Ireland Race overall. What a result. 🏆
Huge congratulations to everyone involved.
