We took some time off recently and spent some time in the wonderful Hay on Wye.

As many of you know I love my books! We have a small library in our home which is the most heavenly place to hang out. Especially on a winters day, snuggled under a blanket with a mug of tea and a thoughtfully chosen book.

One of the shops I spent some serious time in was Richard Booth's Bookshop where I picked up these fabulous old gardening books. Gifted over 100 years ago to someone called Carrie Ross. I wonder who she was and what her garden looked like? How old was she when she discovered her love of gardening. And who was CEK? I have so many questions I’d like to ask the past.

How wonderful to know that these books have had a past and also that her name is still spoken 📚🥰 it’s really rather magical.

Did I want to photograph pizza? Hell yes 🙌

The always wonderful team at Stratton House Hotel & Spa recently commissioned me to take the marketing images for their Pizza & Prosecco evenings (make sure you book in for the end of August).

One of the things I love (apart from actually taking the images) is seeing how the images are used. All the preparation and thinking and working through ideas with my clients prior to photo shoots always pays off.

Lots more mouthwatering images over on the blog page and also on the Stratton House Hotel & Spa social media pages and website.

Do you love details?

I do and when I’m shooting interiors for my clients it’s one of the things I ensure I take the time to capture.

It’s those seemingly small details that make the big difference.

And one of my most favourite things is working with clients time and time and time again 🤩 building wonderful relationships and delivering the results for them.

My latest shoot with was photographing their completed refurbishment of the Worcestershire Golf Club members lounge, bar, and restaurant.

Images were needed for their marketing materials including the website blog and social media.

Here’s what they had to say: “Nikki always gets the ‘big picture’ as well as all of the details that make the difference to telling our story.”

Detail images today with some wide angles to follow. Full shoot over on the blog and more to follow…

Cotswold country house interiors have a style all of their own that’s quintessentially ‘Cotswolds’.

It’s the reason people flock to this part of the world that I’m so happy to call home.

The soft hues of the typically ‘Cotswold colours’ that are used to compliment the Cotswold stone used for building. The history of many of the buildings from country manor houses to barn conversions to Victorian spa town crescents and everything in between.

I was delighted to take on this interiors photography commission for this exquisite house here in the Cotswolds.

The house has been extended and thoughtfully renovated and refurbished by its current owners to create a weekend haven.

A timeless, personality-filled Cotswold country house that has been meticulously renovated, refurbished, and crafted over time, filled with furniture, art, and antiques to create personality and showcase the owners style. And it’s soon to come onto the holiday rental market!

Cotswold country house vibes…

With exceptional views over the low slung rolling Cotswold hills, this commissioned interiors shoot was just dreamy!

Gentle colours within a classic country home, combining stylish and eclectic pieces of art and a design aesthetic to make you feel instantly at home.

Textures, layers, light. It was all here. And all incredibly well thought through. It felt personal and homely whilst at the same time it had that elegance and timeless slightly eclectic feel you find in large manor houses that have been passed down through the generations.

I had a field day shooting this property (soon available for holiday rental)!

Adding layers and textures to rooms…

A peek into this recent commissioned interiors shoots here in the Cotswolds. It’s a perfect showcase of how to add layers and texture into your rooms and in a practical real life and liveable way.

And as always light is a huge factor. No doubt I’ll bang on about that in more detail in a post in a few days time 😅

Top tips when layering textures in your home is to look at where the light comes from as well as how the textures you use react to the light source.

Combine that with how you want the room to feel (ie cosy, calm, sleek, bold, etc) and complimentary colour choices. And leave room for a little bravery in your choices.

My favourite places in my own home are layered up with texture. I change them according to the time of year to mirror the seasons. Mr C&M is always delighted when I add extra items to our ‘essential stock’ of seasonal soft furnishings 😄

No make up?

A busy day out on location again today working with the dream team that is Amanda and Hallie at

A little mascara on a shoot for me is all the make up I wear. Someone asked me a few weeks ago why I don’t wear a full face of make up (I must have been looking tired that day 😅) when I’m out on an interiors or product shoot.

But there is a real reason why I don’t when I’m photographing interiors and interior design commissions.

As humans we touch our face more than we realise and if you are wearing make up or foundation then this ends up on your hands and potentially on fabrics, upholstery, etc when you’re styling and arranging for the perfect shot.

It’s something I thought about when I added photography to my portfolio of services all those years ago and so from day one this has been my go to face!

What seemingly random things do you do in your job that are done for a real reason?!
