Cute little wren poking its head out from its mossy nest next to the river at RSPB Cwm Clydach. It was back and forth to the nest with beak-fulls of grubs to feed its chicks.

Had a wonderful visit to my favourite bird hide this afternoon. This is the cormorant I was met with as I opened the shutter! We were very lucky to see some very special species, including a summer visitor that I haven’t seen before and a very elusive bird that I have only ever heard before! I can’t wait to share these over the next couple of days!

So they don’t just steal your chips!

I witnessed this a few years ago in Anglesey, Wales. There’s some really impressive wildlife there; on this same walk, I saw seals, arctic terns, a hare and stonechats!

Tufted Duck,

I took this early afternoon on Boxing Day, making the most of the low sun at this time of year! This female tufted duck caught the light beautifully👌🏻

Another pic from Christmas Day to welcome in the new year!

I was looking down the riverbank towards this heron, which would normally have flown away as I approached, but on this occasion it allowed me to get some great close-ups of it against the river Bain.

Happy New Year! Looking forward to taking lots of photos in 2026 and taking my art more seriously, but not too seriously!:)

I’ve also been inspired to share more photos from my previous trips abroad and of the local area, and of course want to go on more trips abroad, so I look forward to sharing more in 2026!:)

Here are a couple of shots from Christmas Day morning back in Lincolnshire.

Firstly, a treecreeper ascending this tree, I don’t see these very often! So was pleased to have seen one!:)

And secondly, a heron - I was looking down the riverbank towards it and was lucky it let me take some photographs before it flew away. They’re normally much more wary!
