I first came across urban illustrator, Grant ,well over a year ago now, when he'd stationed himself outside on Barlow Moor Road while I was photographing the owner of , and got chatting to him because I'd never seen someone sketching outside the city centre before.

Months later we bumped into one another again when we both preparing to be featured in , (me for my ) we decided to do a "portrait exchange".

Len was kind enough to give me a copy of his new hardback book, which he was promoting at .coffee on Thursday morning.

Abstract artist J R Oatts’ works centre around the theme of 'colour in motion’. Taking inspiration from the colours and movement that surround us in nature, or in society, dance or performance, she uses multiple layers of paint and sweeping gestural marks to create her expressive, vibrant paintings.

Based in Bollington, Cheshire near Macclesfield, Jo’s work has been shown throughout the UK and she is a regular exhibitor at Manchester Art Fair.

RE-EDIT WITH BIOG:

Shane, Owner, Maple Bathrooms & Kitchens...

"I started Maple in Jan 2012 after being on the tools in kitchen and bathroom installation for years. Running a shop was never on my mind, but one day I thought I would like to give it a try and the thought was burning in my mind for a while, despite not knowing where to start.

I said to a colleague back in November 2011 that we had done a lot of work in Chorlton, and at the time there was nothing similar to what we were doing. Driving down Barlow Moor Road, we noticed there was no units available for rent, but when we turned on to Wilbraham Road, and into Morrisson's petrol station to get fuel, lo and behold there was a “we have moved” sign and contact number by the previous owner of one of the units.

I dialled the number and I asked if the shop was available, and to my surprise he said “yes”. We met a week later at what was then Oddest bar, and signed the lease.

My wife was shocked. She never thought I would actually do it, as it seemed a daunting task, since I had never done anything like this before, but we agreed it was worth a try. We turned an empty space into a showroom, and the people of Chorlton kept popping in as we were refurbishing the shop and were excited to see a new business opening.

After we opened, it was a relief when people came through the door, as our biggest concern was that no one would come in and your business would not work.

After 14 years we are still going strong serving to good people of Chorlton and beyond. We hope to have another 14 years serving Chorlton people, so thank you for your support over the years."
