🎄 THE REAL CHRISTMAS MINIS 🎄

Okay, hear me out…

I’m launching my anti-Christmas Christmas minis 😂

No fake Christmas sets.
No Christmas tree farm.
No generic backdrop that looks exactly the same as everyone else’s.

Just your Christmas.

Your tree. Your home. Your traditions. Your children. The things you do every year without even thinking about it.

Because I don’t want to manufacture Christmas for you. I want to photograph the Christmas that actually belongs to your family❤️

I’m releasing just 8 in-home mini sessions, across the mornings of Saturday 28th November and Saturday 5th December.

And because there are only 8, I’m opening a waitlist before bookings go live.

✨ MODEL CALL ✨

I’m looking for a few lovely families to join me for a creative photography session on a farm near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

There will be six photographers attending the day, so you’ll need to be happy being styled, taking a little direction and having the resulting images shared across social media and websites.

In return, you’ll receive a full gallery of images from all six photographers 🤍

I’m looking for:

📷 Mum & baby — 6–12 months
📷 Mum & toddler
📷 Whole family — both parents + 2 children

📅 Thursday 8th October

There are two session times available:

1–3pm
4–6pm

We almost didn’t do this session.

The forecast over the weekend was unsettled and pretty turbulent, and on the day itself we had thunderstorms, rain and pretty much every weather warning going… with the promise of a few sunny spells thrown in for good measure 😂

At 3pm I messaged my client and said, “I think we should probably cancel. It’s going to rain.”

And then we both looked out of the window.

Glorious sunshine☀️

She said, “Let’s just give it a go. Let’s see what we get. And if we have to reschedule, it’s not a big deal.”

So we went for it.

And I’m so glad we did.

Because so much of this session was about their family, their love for each other and the fun they have together in their campervan, it really didn’t matter if the weather turned. We could embrace it, duck inside when we needed to and just let the evening unfold.

And LOOK at what we got 😍

Soft, beautiful, overcast light.

Dramatic skies with dark clouds, bright clouds and the sun fighting its way through.

And then, eventually, a little bit of golden hour magic.

We got everything.

And the best bit? They just rolled with it. They enjoyed their evening, their children had the BEST time and yes, they got home slightly later than bedtime… but with two very happy children who had had a brilliant evening together.

Sometimes you take the risk.

And sometimes, the risk is absolutely worth it ✨

CALLING ALL SMALLHOLDING & FARM OWNERS

I’m looking for a smallholding or farm that might be happy to let me use their land for a photography shoot on either Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th October, from around 10am until sunset (approximately 5pm).

It can be in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire or Herefordshire 💕

I’m looking for somewhere with a really beautiful, rustic feel. Think:

🤎 Outbuildings with exposed brickwork
🤎 A gorgeous old barn
🤎 Rusted corrugated iron would be an absolute dream!
🤎 Animals would be a lovely bonus, but definitely aren’t essential

Most importantly, I’m looking for an owner or family who would feel comfortable with me photographing families on their premises. I completely understand that farms are working environments and that there may be considerations around children, animals, vehicles and general farm activity. I have my own full business insurance and would, of course, be respectful of the land, buildings and any boundaries you have.

In return, I’d be very happy to offer either:

📷 A complimentary family photoshoot and full gallery for the family who owns the land, at a mutually convenient date. It doesn’t have to be in October and it doesn’t have to be shared publicly.

OR

💷 A financial reimbursement for the use of the premises.

If you know someone with a smallholding, farm or beautiful old farm buildings who might be open to this, I would be SO grateful if you could tag them below or share this post with them.

This is what trusting your photographer actually looks like …

This gorgeous family travelled over an hour for their session, having never been to this location before. They simply trusted me when I said, “I promise it’ll be worth it.”

The funny thing is, I’d had this place saved on my Instagram for about eight months. It popped up one day, and I immediately thought, I need to photograph a family there.

I even went to check it out earlier this year, but the wind was absolutely ridiculous 😂 There was no way I could shoot there.

Fast forward a few months, and we found ourselves back here in the middle of a heatwave. The sunset was unreal, the grass was glowing, and the wind had settled just enough to create that gorgeous movement in their hair and dresses without blowing everyone away!

I always say that your photos are about so much more than the location. They’re about your family. The cuddles, the giggles, the way your little ones reach for your hand without even thinking.

But when you pair all of that with the right place, the right light and a family who completely trusts the process … that’s when the magic happens✨

These are the sessions I dream about photographing.

Honestly I’ve been sitting on the most magical sessions ✨

I haven’t posted in a while not because I don’t have work to share but because I just don’t know what to say …

Home is where the heart is and this session took us home celebrating a garden that has been cared for by many generations of this family. We played amongst the flowers in the golden light.

So many memories happen in your garden 🪴 let’s immortalise them 💕

Tonight, my two-year-old broke my heart a little bit.

Every night, I climb into her toddler bed beside her. We sing Family Fingers, turn off the light, and snuggle close while she drifts off to sleep. Usually, she pulls my face right up to hers, completely unaware of the concept of personal space, secure in the knowledge that Mummy is there, she is loved, and she is safe.

But tonight, as I went to get into bed next to her, she looked at me and said, “Mummy, there,” pointing to a spot on the carpet beside her bed.

Not in the bed. Beside it.

So I sat where she’d asked.

And honestly, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it.

She’s my youngest. My last baby. And I found myself grieving those bedtime cuddles. It caught me a little off guard.

It felt like the closing of a chapter I didn’t realise I was still reading.

Rather bittersweet.

Please tell me I’m not the only one. What small moment has caught you off guard and reminded you just how quickly your children are growing?

I can’t quite describe how you feel when you meet your baby for the first time.

The wonder and awe at this tiny perfect creation that has your nose, your partners ears and your grandparents lips. You stare trying to work out exactly who they look like.

A newborn photoshoot gives you intentional time to slow down and soak your baby up. Space to just be with them and start to figure out who they are after loving them for nine months already.
