Tonight, my two-year-old broke my heart a little bit.

Every night, I climb into her toddler bed beside her. We sing Family Fingers, turn off the light, and snuggle close while she drifts off to sleep. Usually, she pulls my face right up to hers, completely unaware of the concept of personal space, secure in the knowledge that Mummy is there, she is loved, and she is safe.

But tonight, as I went to get into bed next to her, she looked at me and said, “Mummy, there,” pointing to a spot on the carpet beside her bed.

Not in the bed. Beside it.

So I sat where she’d asked.

And honestly, I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about it.

She’s my youngest. My last baby. And I found myself grieving those bedtime cuddles. It caught me a little off guard.

It felt like the closing of a chapter I didn’t realise I was still reading.

Rather bittersweet.

Please tell me I’m not the only one. What small moment has caught you off guard and reminded you just how quickly your children are growing?

I can’t quite describe how you feel when you meet your baby for the first time.

The wonder and awe at this tiny perfect creation that has your nose, your partners ears and your grandparents lips. You stare trying to work out exactly who they look like.

A newborn photoshoot gives you intentional time to slow down and soak your baby up. Space to just be with them and start to figure out who they are after loving them for nine months already.

A snuggly recent newborn session for you. The sweetest little babe at home with their mummy & daddy.

These sessions give you plenty of time to enjoy cuddling your fresh little bundle. They mix typical portraits with storytelling images of your first days together ✨

What surprised you most about those first few days together?

Don’t they just make the most perfect back drop to family adventures ✨

April was a month of new challenges. This gorgeous family joined me for a sunrise session in the canola flowers, their very first sunrise shoot. It was chilly, a little wet, and an early start, but they embraced it all so beautifully.

There is so much love between them, and I loved spending time getting to know them, watching the little ways they naturally connect, play, and enjoy being together. Those quiet in-between moments are always the ones I treasure most.

I hope you love these images, which truly reflect the warmth and joy of their session. I’ve also included a few black and white edits, something I do offer, even if I don’t share them here very often.

What’s something new that you’ve tried recently?

This miserable bank holiday Monday weather has got me thinking, who is dreaming of sunshine at the beach right now?

These images were taken during a recent creative collaborative photography session. I’ve never photographed a family session at the beach before.

So I got together with a group of photography friends. We styled two sessions and photographed alongside each other. It was such great fun and I learned so much.

The biggest thing I came away with was simply how much joy children find at the sea and the seaside. The freedom to run, play, explore, and just be. It was such a lovely opportunity to document something I had never captured before.

Tell me, where is your family’s favourite place to make memories together?

I’m back after a month of wintering.

I’ve been planning my diary for the year ahead, and it’s exciting.

If you’re thinking about a photo session this year, now is the perfect time to look at which sessions suit each season best and start planning ahead.

Here’s a little guide to what works beautifully throughout the year.

February
In-home sessions are available all year, but February is perfect for embracing winter. Let’s stay cosy, cuddle up, and play indoors together.

March
The start of outdoor sunset sessions. Sunsets are still early, making this a lovely time for little ones. For the first time this year, I’ll also be releasing morning outdoor Motherhood Mini Sessions for Mother’s Day. Details coming soon.

April
Spring begins to bloom. A gorgeous time to get outdoors before the evenings draw out and sunset becomes too late for young children.

May
Beautiful spring countryside and flowers. Weekend availability is limited, and half term is a great opportunity for families with school-aged children to book a weekday family session.

June
The return of my Daisy Field Midi sessions. Shorter than a full session, but still a beautiful set of images in the most stunning daisy field. Dates released in May.

July
Warm light and evening play. A perfect month for a maternity session, celebrating your love before your little one arrives.

August
Come and play amongst the heather in the most stunning golden light. As the nights draw back in, it’s the perfect time to dance along the sunset together, relaxed and full of connection.

September
A beautifully warm month for sunset sessions. Weekend dates book up months in advance, so do enquire early.

October
The final month for outdoor sunset sessions. Layer up and play amongst crunchy leaves in golden light.

November
Cosy in-home sessions and winter babies. Think blankets, baking, hot chocolate, pillow fights, and newborn cuddles.

December
Christmas in-home mini sessions return, documenting festive memories in your own space. Two days available, with dates released in the autumn.

Drop a comment below and tell me which month is sitting on your wish list for your dream session.
