Autumn here is about six good weeks and then it’s gone. 🍂

Braidwood Pond in October - leaves down, low light through the trees, everyone in jumpers, kids kicking through the whole lot of it.

It’s my favourite thing to photograph all year. (Christmas trees a joint first haha)

So I’ve opened a wee run of autumn sessions.
25 minutes. No making anyone smile, no sitting still, no matching outfits. We walk, we explore, we throw leaves, we follow wherever your children go. I’ll guide you where it helps.

There will be ones looking at the camera, and there will be the other ones — the in-between ones you’ll end up loving more, because they’re the ones that remind you what this age actually felt like.

£185 for the session and 5 hand-edited images of your choice.

Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October, mornings, plus a few evening slots.

Backup date built in, because Scotland but they do go ahead in drizzle!

Spaces are deliberately few. That’s the point of them.
AUTUMN in the comments and I’ll send you the link.

Teddy 💙

By the end of his session, I knew about gymnastics, dancing, school, and who is best at what.

Two big sisters who had a lot to tell me, and a wee brother who mostly wanted a cuddle.

That’s a newborn session with a third baby in it. The big ones give you all the chat, the baby gets passed around, and somewhere in the middle everyone forgets there’s a camera.

We had such a gorgeous time.

A whole family swooning over a wee boy who’s been here five minutes, and two sisters who are as proud as punch.

Newborn sessions are booking September > January 🤍
Best booked around 20 week mark 🫶🏻

It was a day of a whole lot of love, a lot of laughter and a bar cleared of shots 😆🫶🏻. Such a gorgeous wedding venue with so many parts to explore for photos, was a delight to be back!

A nature trail, a tree swing, and a boy who is four.

Mum and dad chasing him. All three of them laughing by the end of it. Nobody asked me where to stand. Maybe a wee tantrum in between it all - but cmon, this is four!

This is what I want a family session to feel like. Not a photoshoot. Just an hour of your people being your people, and me somewhere nearby with a camera.

I’ve got a few sunset sessions left this summer, dm me to find out more x

I hear it more than you’d think — usually from a mum who’s now six months past it, wishing she’d known.

I think there’s a perception that these sessions are perfect. Quiet, still baby. Everyone calm. Nothing out of place.

That’s not it at all. Babies cry. Babies need fed — sometimes twice. Bums need changed. Somebody needs their mum. That’s not the session going wrong; that’s the session. It’s built into how I work, and there is no rush and nothing to apologise for.

Nobody warns you how fast this stage moves either. You’re in it, awake at 4am, and it feels endless. Then one morning she’s not a newborn anymore and you can’t remember when that happened.

She was so loved. You can see it in every frame.

You don’t need to have it together. You don’t need a settled baby. You just need to be in the picture, because this is the part of your story that’s there.

I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned as a photographer is knowing when to step in… and when to just leave people alone.

This session was a bit of both.

We had watermelon and snacks on the grass. We kicked a football about, played What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?, pretended to be aeroplanes, did some cutting and crafting, looked for ducks, watched every dog that passed and generally just had a carry on in the evening sun.

And the kids got to be kids.

Nobody was being asked to smile at me every five minutes. Mum and Dad weren’t spending the whole session trying to keep everyone clean, happy, still and looking in the same direction.

They just got to be together.

Of course there are moments where I’ll guide you. I’ll move you into the good light, give you something to do or help when everyone suddenly forgets how they normally stand beside each other 😂

But I’ve learned that I don’t need to create every photograph.

Sometimes my job is to notice what’s already happening.

The way they climb onto you without thinking. The wee hand reaching for another bit of watermelon. Dad being dragged into a game. Mum sitting on the grass watching it all unfold. The chaos, the cuddles, the daft games and all the completely normal things that make up a family.

I think motherhood already asks you to manage enough.

Your photos don’t need to be another thing you have to manage.

Come as you are. Bring the snacks. Let them run about. Sit on the grass. Play with them. Watch them.

I’ll take care of the rest.

More evenings like this, please.
