Today i hosted a landscape photography beginner workshop attended by seven people in a beautiful park in the north east.
I enjoyed doing it and want to do more.

Remembering photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt who died on this day, the 23rd August, in 1995 at the age of 96.

During his career Eisenstaedt captured many iconic images of notable 'celebrities' such as Monroe, Einstein, and Churchill.

However, his most famous image remains his August 14, 1945 photograph taken during the spontaneous celebrations that took place in New York's Time Square when news of the end of WW2 was announced.

Even today controversy remains regarding the circumstances of the photo, the identity of the participants, and the ethics of the action depicted - with multiple individuals having claimed to be one or other of the individuals pictured (The main current theory is that the sailor was called George Mendonsa and the girl was a dental assistant named Greta Zimmer)

But maybe the long term anonymity of the image remains one of it's strengths?

Heather Caits met Ethan Caits through his work in 2023 and Ethan proposed by the side of a wagon at Scotland Truck Fest in 2024. Their little girl came along in September 2025.

Their wedding was a happy and emotional day for them, family and friends.

My best selling image (8 so far) printed, mounted and framed at uni by myself and Kenny in the workshop is back in the shop window and for sale at £50. It’s A4 size and printed on pearl/lustre paper.

Would you like a beginners photography lesson? I’ve been doing photography for around 14 years, i’ve just completed year 1 of a BA (Hons) in photography at University of Cumbria and loving passing on what i know to help people take beautiful photos and get creative.
