✍️ Feminist Library: Dr Naomi Pearce

Join writer Dr Naomi Pearce for Beyond the Frame: Memory, Critical Fabulation and Creative Writing—an interactive workshop exploring photography through memory, imagination and creative writing.

Drawing on the work of Saidiya Hartman and Annette Kuhn, this session invites participants to uncover the stories that exist just beyond the image. Through writing exercises, you’ll explore photography as memory, evidence, fiction and possibility—no previous writing experience required.

Dr Naomi Pearce is a writer based in Ceredigion whose work brings together feminist and q***r histories, place, ecology and art. She teaches Fine Art and Art History at Aberystwyth University and was recently selected for the Hay Festival Writers at Work programme.

Gan dynnu ar waith Saidiya Hartman ac Annette Kuhn, mae’r sesiwn yn gwahodd cyfranogwyr i ddatgelu’r straeon sy’n bodoli ychydig y tu hwnt i’r ddelwedd. Trwy gyfres o ymarferion ysgrifennu, byddwch yn archwilio ffotograffiaeth fel cof, tystiolaeth, ffuglen a phosibilrwydd. Nid oes angen unrhyw brofiad blaenorol o ysgrifennu.

Today we’re celebrating Pride Cymru and the LGBTQ+ communities, artists and stories that continue to shape culture in Wales and beyond. 🏳️‍🌈

We’ve long been proud to support LGBTQ+ artists whose work challenges perspectives, opens dialogue, and creates space for diverse voices to be seen and heard. From our Trans Gathering photowalk to our growing LGBTQ+ collection in the library, inclusion and representation remain central to our practice.

We’re also proud to continue our Pink Portraits 2026 project, highlighting LGBTQ+ lives through collaborative portraiture and storytelling, alongside sharing the work of artists such as Roman Manfredi, whose practice explores identity, community and belonging.

Happy Pride Cymru 💖

Heddiw rydym yn dathlu Pride Cymru a’r cymunedau, artistiaid a straeon LGBTQ+ sy’n parhau i lunio diwylliant yng Nghymru a thu hwnt. 🏳️‍🌈

Rydym wedi bod yn falch ers tro o gefnogi artistiaid LGBTQ+ y mae eu gwaith yn herio safbwyntiau, yn agor trafodaeth, ac yn creu lle i leisiau amrywiol gael eu gweld a’u clywed. O’n teithiau ffotograffig Trans Gathering i’n casgliad LGBTQ+ cynyddol yn y llyfrgell, mae cynhwysiant a chynrychiolaeth yn ganolog i’n gwaith.

Rydym hefyd yn falch o barhau â’n prosiect Pink Portraits 2026, sy’n tynnu sylw at fywydau LGBTQ+ trwy bortreadau cydweithredol a straeon, ochr yn ochr â rhannu gwaith artistiaid fel Roman Manfredi, y mae ei arfer yn archwilio hunaniaeth, cymuned a pherthyn.

Hapus Pride Cymru 💖
