On Good Friday (today, 3rd March 2026) Christians commemorate Jesus' sacrifice to atone for humanity's sins.

'The Crucifixion' - my photo here shows the Central panel of the Eastern Window of the former St James Church Brighouse, was made in i870 by Morris, Faulkner & Co and designed by Edward Coley Burne-Jones.

The stained glass windows were removed and restored in 1985 by the Friends of the Bradford Art Galleries and Museums and Gallery. The windows are now on display in Cliffe Castle, Keighley.

The gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton is a beautiful market town on the River Aire and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal with a 12th-century castle, impressive history, and famous market.

Skipton Castle Woods Walk is a popular and accessible walk through tranquil woods just outside the heart of the town. You can also take a stroll or take a boat ride along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal or explore the many ginnels and side streets and enjoy good food and drink.

Skipton Town Hall built in 1862 in home to the Craven Museum, housing 60,000 objects telling the history of this fascinating part of the Yorkshire Dales. This is complemented by an exhibition gallery, performance space and visitor centre.

Mawrth 1af Dydd Gwyl Dewi / March 1st St David's Day.

“Gwnewch y pethau bychain” (Do the little things)

Dydd Gwyl Dewi (Festival of St David) is observed on 1st March as the national day of Wales. It proudly it commemorates the life and legacy of Dewi Sant (St David, the patron saint of Cymru (Wales), who died on this day in the year 589. It is a day of immense national pride, characterized by traditional music, the wearing of national symbols, and the celebration of Welsh culture and language.

His canonization by Pope Callixtus II in 1120 established March 1 as a holy day. David’s final words to his followers—“Gwnewch y pethau bychain” (Do the little things)—have become a guiding maxim for Welsh identity, emphasizing that small acts of kindness and faithfulness define a meaningful life. While it is not a public holiday in the UK (despite ongoing petitions to the UK government), it is a day of significant cultural activity throughout Wales and among the Welsh diaspora worldwide.

The most visible way to celebrate is by pinning a leek or a daffodil to your clothing—the two national emblems of Wales. The leek’s association with the day dates back to a battle against the Saxons, where St. David reportedly advised Welsh soldiers to wear leeks in their hats to distinguish themselves from the Saxons.

Our cat Binx says he's been a good boy....yes, really!

He can't wait for Santa Claws to come down the Chimney and leave him some nice treats in his stocking.

We wish you all a 'Purrfect' Christmas too.

'The Mirky Wood.'

Whenever we go walking deep into Gisburn Forest, the dark and shadowy woodland always conjures up images of 'Mirkwood', the great mystical forest east of the river Anduin in Rhovanion in J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
