2006.
The radioās full of Neptunes beats. Every club, every chart, every artist⦠somehow has Pharrell Williamsā fingerprints on it.
But In My Mind felt different.
This wasnāt just another hitmaker moment - this was Pharrell stepping out from behind the curtain and saying, āthis is me.ā
You press play and itās unpredictable.
Not chasing trends. Not fitting into one sound.
Just creativity⦠in its purest form.
Tracks like Can I Have It Like That brought that bounce.
Number One had that energy.
And then Angel slowed everything down⦠like a glimpse into his world beyond the hits.
It didnāt sound like anything else at the time⦠and honestly, it still doesnāt.
20 years later, In My Mind feels less like an album and more like a statement:
You donāt have to follow the wave when you helped create it.
What did this album mean to you back then? š
