's social media pages are a perfect example of how to get the most from your product images during a brand launch and why it's so helpful to know how you will want to use your photos before anybody even touches a camera.

It can be tempting to want all of the hyper styled and lifestyle shots first, but when building a scalable product brand, having simple and highly detailed shots before anything else means you can build your visual style organically, develop trust and professionalism with your customers from the get go, and won't be left scrambling for ecommerce shots if you decide to sell via third party platforms.

The Brief:

Product images for a brand new soft toy brand needing:
- Semi-styled product shots of each product
- Focus on quality/detailing
- A South Asian touch

We reviewed a few different options in the preproduction stage, some more heavily styled than others and in the end settled on some simple, soft draping of some saree fabric to add a little cosiness and texture while keeping the space around the doll plain white, allowing for the dolls to be cropped out and edited into ecommerce shots if needed, providing flexibility while the brand develops its visual style.

Before this shoot I was given some examples of captions that were planned to go along with the images, and while I wasn't expected to illustrate every one of them, I decided to pick out recurring themes and style scenes around them, making them a hugely useful resource when planning the shoot.

Understanding what story you want to tell and how you want your customers to feel allows me to include a depth and richness in your product photography that makes your brand instantly recognisable.

Before your next session, have a think about what captions you'd use to accompany your images, knowing whay you want to say is as important as any moodboard.

Something a little different for this latest shoot with this time combining real locations with lifestyle sets to create images that tell a story and give a sense of time and place to help their audience picture the candles in their own homes.

By sticking closely with their existing colour pallette and visual themes, these images to fit seamlessly into the brands growing image library and freshing up their visual content.

The Brief:
- Lifestyle photography
- Cosy but urban
- Clean and minimal, but warm
