Why are newborn sessions usually photographed within the first few weeks? 👶🏻

Simply because this stage changes so quickly. In those early weeks babies are generally sleepier, naturally curled up and still have that unmistakable brand new look.

A few weeks later they’re already stretching out, becoming more alert and starting to look completely different 🩷

Pregnancy can feel incredibly long when you’re in the middle of it, but strangely, once your baby arrives it can be difficult to remember what it actually felt like to carry them 🤍

A maternity session gives you something to look back on from that very short chapter before everything changes 🩷

I keep maternity photographs simple, elegant and natural. Nothing overly styled or complicated. Just beautiful images that still feel like you years from now 🥰

All Newborn Props are coming to Tiny Posers! 🤍

As many of you will know, are sadly closing down, but before they do, we’re having their first ever pop up at my studio in Brentwood.

This will be your first and last chance to shop in person, see everything before you buy and stock up on your favourites before they’re gone.

But I also thought, why not make a day of it? 🥰

Come along, have a browse, grab a tea or coffee, catch up with other photographers, be nosy and have a good look around my studio 😄

There’s no workshop, no agenda and no need to stay for any particular amount of time. Just pop in whenever suits you. Everyone is welcome! 🤍

🚗 William Hunter Way Car Park (CM14 4SS) is two minutes walk from the studio.

First birthday photographs don’t have to mean a huge themed setup and lots of decorations 🩷

I prefer to keep things simple and let your baby be the focus.

Beautiful light, soft neutral colours, plenty of personality and some family photographs too 🤍 Something that will still feel beautiful hanging in your home long after the first birthday decorations have gone.

Those first few weeks really are such a strange little bubble. You’re getting to know your baby, the days and nights seem to merge into one, and somehow they are changing right in front of you.

This is why I usually photograph newborns within their first 1 to 3 weeks. They are still naturally curled up, sleepy and happiest tucked into those lovely little positions.

From my Perfect Simplicity class earlier today. 🤍

What a wonderful day spent with such an incredible group of photographers. I genuinely love these opportunities to meet people from all over the world, share what I’ve learned over the years, and hopefully inspire a few new ideas along the way.

Thank you to everyone who came along, asked questions, shared your experiences and made the session so much fun. Teaching never feels like work when the room is full of people who are so passionate about photography.

I can’t wait to teach my other two classes over the next couple of days.
Let’s do it all again!
