This image was taken on a stormy night at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. I was sat eating my subway sandwich when the thunder and lightning came across the darkening sky, as I saw the boots of lightning I grabbed my camera and ran out to where the aircraft were being held. I quickly adjusted my exposure and needed to under expose so any light that was captured from the lightning did not overexpose my image. After a few shots this is the best I had and I ran back to the car before I got soaked and continued to eat my subway sandwich.

I wanted to see what insects were still busy in all the dry grass. I found some wildflowers in the meadow and spotted this amusingly named Batman hoverfly. Apparently named for the marking which you can see just under the wings.

I was out one morning trying to get macro shots of a full dandelion. I found this and after my first shot accidentally knocked some of the seeds off. I was so cross with myself until I took a closer look at the outcome. Absolutely fascinating what is there just under our noses!

I am currently visiting an alphabetical list of places that I have never been to before, Knoll Gardens, near Wimborne, Dorset was my "K" place. It's small, but wonderful, the UK's leading specialist nursery for ornamental grasses. An amazing opportunity for photos and this tree inspired me to look up - an unusual visual aspect.
