Phoenix Energy and the Northern Ireland's Housing Executive, through NIHE’s Low Carbon Programme, have launched a new hybrid heating initiative in Belfast. The programme has already retrofitted 15 NIHE homes using a fabric-first approach, including cavity wall and loft insulation, as well as upgraded windows and doors to improve energy efficiency.

These improvements are being complemented by the installation of hybrid heating systems, combining air source heat pumps with efficient gas boilers to help reduce carbon emissions while maintaining reliable home heating.

We recently visited one of the installations and had the opportunity to speak with the tenant about their experience.

Six months on, we’re still incredibly proud to have been recognised as a Top Performer in the Business in the Community Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey.

To be acknowledged among the top performers is a reflection of the commitment our team brings every day to responsible business and continuous environmental improvement.

For us, this recognition is about the standards we set, the progress we continue to make, and the responsibility we carry as we help shape a more sustainable future.

A huge thank you to our team, partners and customers who support that journey every step of the way.

After funding support provided through the Phoenix Community Fund, Bangor Hockey Club were able to purchase hockey sticks, balls and cones to facilitate walking hockey for members of the U3A.

The purchase of these essential items allows the u3a UK to continue delivering this ongoing programme at Bangor Hockey Club. A great opportunity to keep physically active and reduce social isolation!

It was great to kick off the first Phoenix Community Fund of the year as we awarded funding towards sending an athlete to the Special Olympics Ireland games in June.

Six athletes in total from Newtownabbey Racers Special Olympics Club will attend the games uniting over 1,200 athletes, thousands of volunteers, and communities across the island in a celebration of ability, belonging, and shared purpose.

At the games the athletes have access to essential health, wellbeing, and support services including screenings, education, and tailored support for athletes with intellectual disabilities, which are crucial in creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment.
