When I photograph a wedding, I’m not only looking at the couple - I'm constantly looking around me, weaving amongst people unnoticed, capturing the little storytelling moments, as well as the key moments that everyone is there for.

Your best friend clearly so happy for you, the children finding ways to entertain themselves, the emotional hugs between people that haven't seen each other for a long time.

As a wedding photographer across Somerset, Bath, Bristol and beyond, I’ve learned that storytelling images like these are often amongst the most cherished by couples because they tell the story of what really happened - the emotions, the personalities of your guests and why you love them, the special moments throughout the day.

My approach to wedding photography is documentary at heart - to capture what is happening in front of me. I want to tell the story of the whole celebration, not just what it looked like, but what was happening and how it felt to be there.

**Are you planning your wedding at Minerva Vines?**

If so, I'd absolutely love to hear about your plans.

Minerva Vines is one of Bath's newest wedding venues and, as far as I'm aware, has only held one practice wedding so far. I recently had the opportunity to photograph a styled shoot there, and I came away feeling so excited for all the couples who'll be getting married there over the coming years.

The vineyard, the beautiful Orangery and the views across the Somerset countryside make it such a lovely place to celebrate with the people you love. It's also only 16 minutes from my home, so I'd absolutely love to photograph one of the first real weddings there.

After my visit, I decided to create a detailed guide for couples who are considering Minerva Vines for their wedding. It includes information about the venue, photography ideas, my favourite locations, practical planning tips and answers to some of the questions you might have while planning your day.

There's a common misconception that you need glorious sunshine for beautiful wedding photographs. The truth is, what I will remember most about this day isn't the rain. It's the laughter. The hugs. The way these two looked at each other as if nobody else was around. And the lively joy and emotion. I get the feeling it will be the same for Kelly and Rob who embraced the day and were up for anything. This is how you make beautiful photographs.

This photograph, taken beside the little waterfall, is one of my favourites. A quiet moment together, a kiss in the rain, and not a care in the world.

These are exactly the kind of weddings I love to photograph. Couples who focus on what really matters: celebrating their marriage with the people they love most, whatever the weather decides to do.

And what a wonderful venue - they couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, and they played such a big part in making the day run so smoothly.

Sometimes the most memorable wedding days aren't the ones with perfect weather.
They're the ones filled with perfectly wonderful people. 🤍

One of the questions I’m asked most often is…

“What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?”

The answer is that the relaxed images you see on my page are created because I spend most of the day simply quietly weaving around and documenting what’s already happening. I’ve been described as a “Ninja Photographer - you’re everywhere!”

And when it comes to portraits, I’ll simply give you space to enjoy a few minutes together. With some gentle guidance if needed. No complicated posing. No pressure to perform.

The best photographs happen when you’re focused on each other rather than me.

That’s why so many couples tell me afterwards that having their photograph taken was much easier than they expected. Most often the best photographs happen when you don’t even realise they were taken.

One of the questions I ask every couple before their wedding is how they feel about having their portraits taken.

Some people want to spend as little time away from their guests as possible, and that's absolutely perfect. We'll keep things short, relaxed and natural before heading straight back to the celebrations.

Others genuinely enjoy taking a little more time to create something beautiful together. If that's the case, I love making the most of the setting we've chosen.

For this couple, we wandered through Oxford, taking in the incredible architecture along the way. As soon as I saw this doorway at the Bodleian Library, I knew it would make the perfect backdrop. The symmetry, the scale and the beautiful stonework naturally draw your eye towards the couple without distracting from them.

Although my approach throughout a wedding is always centred around capturing genuine moments as they unfold, I also love creating a handful of timeless portraits that feel considered and elegant. They don't need to feel awkward or overly posed. Just enough direction to make the most of an extraordinary setting while allowing the couple's connection to remain the focus.

No two weddings are the same and no two couples are either. That's one of the things I love most about what I do. Every gallery reflects not only the story of the day, but the personalities of the people at its heart.

I was editing a wedding recently and found myself lingering on a photograph from a bride's first look with her father.

I could have taken a step backwards to get a more technically perfect image. I could have included more of the scene. There would have been more context, more of their bodies in the frame and perhaps a more balanced composition. But I didn't.

Instead, the photograph is close. You can see the pure emotion in both the father's and daughter's eyes as they see each other. Their expressions tell the whole story. Looking at the image now, I don't find myself wishing I'd stepped back. In fact, I think the closeness is exactly what makes it work. It feels as though you're standing right there with them, sharing the moment rather than simply observing it.

This photograph is a good reminder of what I value most when I'm photographing a wedding.

Of course, I care about beautiful light, composition and creating images that look wonderful. But if I ever have to choose between technical perfection and genuine emotion, I will choose emotion every time.

The moments that matter most rarely happen twice. They can't be posed or recreated. They appear for a fraction of a second and then they're gone. My job is to notice them and preserve them.

My hope is that when couples look through their gallery, they don't just see what their wedding looked like. They remember how it felt. They notice moments they had forgotten and discover moments they never even realised had happened.

Years from now, I don't think anyone will care whether a photograph was technically perfect.

They'll care about how it makes them feel.

A little-known fact about me is that I speak French and Italian and have always been fascinated by other cultures and languages.

Long before photography became my career, I studied languages, Art History and Cinema at university and was fortunate enough to spend time living in both France and Italy.

After university, my career took me all over the world. I travelled regularly to countries including India and China, as well as Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and destinations across Europe. I've also been lucky enough to explore parts of South Africa and South America.

Those experiences gave me a real appreciation for different traditions, perspectives and ways of life. They also left me with a lasting curiosity about people, cultures and the stories that connect us.

Perhaps that's one of the reasons I find multicultural weddings so joyful.

I love hearing different languages spoken throughout the day. I love seeing families come together from different countries and backgrounds. I love witnessing traditions that may be completely new to me and learning what they mean to the people celebrating them.

Every wedding is unique, but multicultural weddings often feel like several stories woven together into one celebration.

While family life means I'm not currently in a position to offer destination weddings, I would absolutely love to photograph more multicultural and international weddings here in the UK.

Whether you're blending cultures, languages and traditions, or simply bringing together family and friends from all over the world, I'd love to hear your story.

Perhaps it’s my Art History background, but I’ve always been drawn to beautiful places.

Historic architecture.

Rolling countryside.

Gardens that have been shaped and cared for over generations.

The way the landscape changes with the seasons and the way light transforms a place throughout the day.

It’s one of the reasons I love photographing weddings at some of the country’s most beautiful venues.

Not because the venue is the most important part of the day, but because it provides such a wonderful backdrop for bringing people together.

There’s something rather special about celebrating with the people you love most in a place that feels memorable, meaningful and completely removed from everyday life.

The combination of the two is where the magic happens.

Beautiful surroundings.

Wonderful people.

And memories that last long after the day itself.

One of the things I hear most often from couples is that they don't feel comfortable in front of the camera.

The good news is that you don't need to.

Many of the couples you see on my page felt exactly the same way before their wedding. They worried they might be awkward, didn't know what to do with their hands or simply didn't enjoy having their photograph taken.

My job isn't to make you perform for the camera. It's to create space for you to enjoy your wedding day while I quietly document everything unfolding around you. The laughter, the emotion, the hugs, the happy tears and all those little moments you don't even realise are happening.

And when we do take a few portraits together, it doesn't need to feel staged or uncomfortable. A short walk, a few minutes away from the crowd and a chance to simply be together is often all that's needed before we get you straight back to your celebrations.

The best photographs happen when you're focused on each other, not on me.

Beautiful, elevated portraits don’t have to mean stepping away from your day for hours or feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera.

This image was created during a recent Oxford Nikkah inside the mosque. Drawn from the atmosphere and architecture of the space itself, it feels quiet, reflective and deeply connected to the significance of the day.

I love creating portraits that feel calm, elegant and timeless while still feeling completely authentic to the couple in front of me. The aim is never to interrupt the celebration, but to weave a handful of meaningful portraits naturally into the flow of the day alongside all the laughter, emotion and connection unfolding around you.

The result is a collection of photographs that captures both the story of your day and a few beautifully crafted images that you’ll treasure for generations.
