I'm a family photographer based in Cudworth, Barnsley, and specialise in newborn, maternity, and family photography. I have a cosy studio at my home for newborn and baby portraits. For outdoor photography, I'm happy to travel around Barnsley and surrounding areas. Having a child of my own helped me realise the real value of photos and how much I love photography.

🎂 Birthday Sessions at G. Silk Photography Studio

A simple, calm and baby-focused session in my bright white studio, with no rush and no busy props.

Depending on your package, we’ll begin with a few portraits of baby with parents, followed by portraits of baby on their own. We finish with the cake smash — a chance to capture all those little expressions and wonderfully messy moments. 🎂

You’re welcome to bring any decorations or details you like, but they’re completely optional. The simplicity of the studio keeps all the attention on your little one.

And don’t worry about the cake mess — I’ll take care of the cleaning afterwards. 🤍

If you’d like to receive your photos before your baby’s birthday, the best time to reserve your session is around 3 weeks before their birthday,allowing enough time for the session and editing.

September, October & November

These months are filling up, with **November now having very limited availability** as it’s always my busiest time of year.

With both my children starting full-time education, weekend dates will also be more limited, with most Sundays kept for family time.

If you’re planning a newborn, maternity or cake smash session, booking ahead is always best, especially for newborns. 🤍
Newborn dates can be adjusted once baby arrives, so there’s no need to know the exact date.

And, of course, **last-minute bookings are always welcome if I have availability.✨

As every year, all props are real, allowing little ones to explore, play, and interact naturally. This creates a truly authentic experience and beautifully captures the wonder of childhood.

Welcome to the new home of G. Silk Photography 🤍

This year I moved into a bigger studio, designed to feel like home—not a typical photography studio with endless backdrops. It's a cosy, relaxed space where families can truly feel comfortable.

✨ Plenty of space for siblings to play while they wait
🌿 Garden available (with parent supervision)
🤍 Grandparents are always welcome
🐾 Well-behaved dogs are welcome too

There's never any rush during your newborn session—plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and soothing your little one.

I always recommend booking your newborn session while you're still pregnant. I schedule your session for around 1–2 weeks after your due date, and once your baby arrives, we can adjust the date if needed. Last-minute bookings are always welcome if I have availability.

This maternity session began with a few classic poses, but my favourite moments came later. As they relaxed and simply enjoyed being together, everything started to feel more natural, more personal, and completely their own. Those quiet, unplanned moments are often the ones that tell the story best—and I absolutely love how this session turned out. 🤍

Twin newborn sessions are a rare occasion in my studio and such a joy to photograph. They are always warmly welcomed, and there is no additional fee for twin newborn sessions.

A little availability update:
• July: 14th, 18th & 19th available.
• Next availability: Mid-August.

A little update on my summer availability. 🤍

July – I have very limited availability remaining. From 24th July, I'll be away from the UK and will return on 14th August. During that time, I'll still be replying to messages and editing galleries as usual.

August – from my return onwards, I have limited availability, with weekday evening appointments and only a few weekend sessions remaining.

If you're expecting your little one this summer, or your due date is approaching, you're very welcome to get in touch. Last-minute newborn sessions are always possible if I have availability, and I'll always do my best to accommodate them.
