I was out photographing and filming Red squirrel again today. It was nice watching them forage for chestnuts and pine cones. There is only a small population left here of around half a dozen or so and on the way I did see a Grey squirrel about a mile away from the wood. They do control the greys here so hopefully they will be fine. Have a great weekend folks.

I have never thought of frogs as woodland animals, but I have seen quite a few this year in the woods, all of them well away from any water source. It's not something I have noticed before, but a bit of research suggest they do live in forests for a good part of the year - every day is a learning day.

Heron at sunrise. What a morning that was trying to choose between video and still images. In the end I managed a bit of both, but sometimes it's a hard choice to make.

Red squirrels are restricted to a few isolated pockets in County Durham, but I was fortunate to spend some time filming this lovely female today.

Now that we have had a bit of rain fungi are starting to appear. I think this one is the Bleeding Bonnet Fungi (Mycena sanguinolenta).
