I'm always a bit uncomfortable suddenly popping up during Pride Month saying, "Hey, we're LGBTQIA+ friendly!" because it feels performative.

It really ought to be the default. Yet sadly, I don't think it always is.

So, just to be clear: our studio is a safe, welcoming and inclusive space.

Whoever you love, however you identify, you're welcome here.

And as for what's in your pants? That's entirely your business. We just hope the pants are Brazilian-cut and in a fabulous colour.

Much love,

Anna xx

Old photos of my mum and dad ❤

Sitting on my desk I have this little folder of photos.
At some point, in the 1960s it must have been a 'thing' to have photos taken on holiday.
So, whilst AWAY (in, I assume, Torquay) that's evidently what my parents did.
I didn't see these until my dad was already dead, and my mum was in a care home with advanced dementia - they are THE most precious thing to me.

I don't want them digitally, I want them as they are - they're history in a folio.

"Having overcome three primary cancers (ovarian, breast and thyroid) I have spent the last 20 years focused on my survival - surgeries, scans, blood tests. My main focus was on healing and improving my physical ability to recover as closely to my fitness level before each of the surgeries.

Feeling feminine, confident and sexy afterward barely crossed my mind. I didn’t have the space whilst processing my scars and rebuilding my self esteem. That is until I read about the Womenvisible project. It triggered something within me and I felt that it was time to reflect on what my body looks like now.

The project also coincided with my five years in remission from thyroid cancer this year.

Hormonal shifts post ovarian cancer greatly impacted on my sense of womanhood. I lost not only my womb and ovaries but also myself for a while despite only being 41.

Reaching 50 was a major milestone for me but to then be diagnosed at 51 with breast cancer my body underwent further change with a mastectomy. Something felt different this time as a fifty something. It was harder to regain my confidence.

I am feeling very proud of myself and of the images.
They are a celebration of my strength and beauty and today when I look in the mirror I have my sparkle back.

If, like me, there’s a little voice inside you sparking your curiosity in taking part in a body confident photo shoot, then I would say “take the plunge, you have nothing to lose and you will gain the warm embrace of the wonderful woman you’ve become over the years”."

I was prepared, as I age, to not recognise myself.
Our bodies change…I am fine with that. I’m not chasing a particular look or body shape.
What I wasn’t prepared for was not recognising myself as a person.
Not knowing quite how I was going to react to things, as my hormones shifted.
Rising anxiety.
Feeling less capable.
Becoming more emotional.

Losing a connection with the woman in the mirror is one thing.
Losing a connection with yourself is something else.

One week on HRT and I feel so much more balanced. (The irony of saying that, whilst also getting dizzy spells 🤣).

It’s only in getting back to me I can see how far I’d drifted.

"I enquired about taking part in the 50-over-50 project after a recent divorce, and feeling very rejected and not feeling attractive in any way.
Menopause was a hard hit on me, physically and mentally. More saggy skin, altered complexion. I was feeling very invisible.
I loved the session. I was treated sooo well. The respect everyone showed for me was incredible. It was very relaxed.
I'm feeling incredible. I walk taller, I hold myself confidently, and I feel like a sexy 59 year old now.
Do not hesitate! Book it.
The transformation in my confidence is off the scale"

Prospective clients:
The thing is, I've had children and it's left me with a really saggy stomach...

Me:
I've got that, but I've never even been pregnant, let alone created actual people. I got mine through cake and wine...

It's all about the real talk, here 🤣
