How I made my Sciel’s Charnon Scythe for my cosplay
This is a step-by-step tutorial showing how I made the Charnon Scythe for my Sciel cosplay.
I chose to print the 3D model created by 3Demon . It is a high-quality model with lots of details, and it comes with assembly instructions.
Once printed, I sanded each piece first with 80-grit sandpaper, then with 120-grit. It’s a long process, so make sure to have some good music playing to make it easier!
I added a metal rod inside the main structure, as recommended by 3Demon, to make the scythe stronger and more stable.
I used small wooden dowels to align and reinforce the connections between the different parts before gluing everything together.
I followed the technique shared by DD3D to hide the seams between printed parts. You can find the Reel on their Instagram account!
Everything is now assembled and ready for the painting process!
First, I applied MOTIP Spray Putty to fill small imperfections. Once dry, I sanded it with fine-grit sandpaper (around 250 grit) to smooth the surface.
Then, I applied MOTIP Black Filler to create a base for painting.
SAFETY FIRST: Always wear a protective mask and safety goggles, and make sure to do this step outdoors in a well-ventilated area!
I applied gold wax with a microfiber cloth. You can experiment with different techniques depending on the finish you want: dabbing or blending. The key is to build up the paint gradually and create a subtle texture.
Using a small amount of paint, I added the finer details with a brush.
I applied a protective varnish to seal the paint and make the scythe more durable.
Et voilà!
