Congratulations to All the Wahine who were invited to The Rip Curl Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational ! Courage was needed to go paddle out there in this gigantic surf ! And then even more courage was needed to want to stop paddling further out when giant waves were approaching and …. Then turn their surfboard so that they would throw their body in the trough of the giant waves …… You all did great ! You overcame your fears if any !!!

Dimanche 22 décembre a eu lieu le RIP Curl Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational à Waimea Bay / Oahu / Hawaï . Cette compétition est née en 1984 !!! Les vagues doivent faire un minimum de 6metres ( 20 ft ) pendant les 8 heures de compétition !! Les compétiteurs hommes et femmes courent ensemble pour le classement général. Les participants sont au nombre de 7 hommes plus 2 femmes par série et chaque série concourt deux fois dans la journée avec un temps généralement de 50 Mns par série. Au final , les trois meilleures scores sont gardés . Cette année, c’est Landon Mc Namara qui a gagné ! Devançant Mason Ho , Billy Kemper , Jamie O Brien et Nathan Florence .

The Rip Curl Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational happened on Dec 22nd 2024 at Waimea Bay /oahu / Hawaii . The swell was as required by the rules above the 20 ft minimum all day . In fact their size was increasing all day long and contestants had to paddle very fast to avoid a few close out steps in the afternoon…. Landon McNamara got his two biggest sets then and won with a very late take off back side where the lip of that giant wave broke on his back ! He managed to keep his speed and came out of a mountain of white water !!!!! That gave him the winning points ! He was followed closely by Mason Ho , Billy Kemper , Jamie O Brien and Nathan Florence.. Anne Reickert was the first woman with Justine Dupont and Bianca Valenti on her heels !

Congratulations to All the Women and Men contestants : that was a Hell of a day for them as for Water Safety !!! And all the organisers and paramedics too .
