Pendant la sortie en bateau vers Noss, la météo a changé sans cesse, dessinant les falaises et la mer dans des ambiances toujours différentes.
Dans la brume, voir les fous de Bassan surgir soudainement de nulle part, leurs appels portés au-dessus des vagues, a donné à cette sortie une intensité très particulière.

During the boat trip to Noss, the weather kept changing from one moment to the next, shaping the cliffs and the sea into different moods.
In the fog, seeing the gannets suddenly emerge from nowhere, their calls carrying above the waves, gave this trip a very special intensity.

Sous un ciel couvert, la sortie en bateau vers l’île de Noss fut l’occasion de travailler en high key avec différentes espèces en vol: un fou de Bassan, un grand labbe et un goéland argenté.

Under an overcast sky, the boat trip to the Isle of Noss was an opportunity to work in high key with different species in flight : a northern gannet, a great skua and a herring gull.

Je commence cette série avec une photo prise dès le premier soir à Sumburgh Head. Les macareux étaient bien entendu l’une des espèces emblématiques de ce voyage, et nous avons été gâtés par une magnifique lumière de coucher de soleil pour cette première soirée.

I’m starting this series with a photograph taken on the very first evening at Sumburgh Head. Puffins were naturally one of the iconic species of this trip, and we were treated to beautiful sunset light for our first evening.

Finally had a bit of time to go through some of the images from my stop at Liminka Bay last month. And already time for the next destination!

The ruffs were not very active during my visit, but they still put on a few beautiful displays in the warm evening light. Such a fascinating and elegant species to observe.

Next stop: Shetland! 🇬🇧

J'ai enfin eu un peu de temps pour parcourir les images prises lors de mon passage à la baie de Liminka le mois dernier. Et il est déjà temps de partir vers une nouvelle destination !

Les combattants variés n'étaient pas très actifs lors de mon passage, mais ils m'ont tout de même offert quelques belles parades dans la belle lumière du soir. Une espèce aussi fascinante qu'élégante à observer.

Prochaine étape : les Shetland ! 🇬🇧

I continue with the image review of this spring tour in Finland with .
One of the highlights was definitely photographing the capercaillie from hides during the last days of the lekking season.
Observing the fascinating behaviour of this iconic bird, deeply connected to the boreal forest, is always a special experience and something we can feel lucky to witness in the early hours of the night.
Despite the unusual weather conditions this spring, the sightings remained very active in Kuusamo.

Je continue avec le retour en images de ce voyage photo printanier en Finlande avec .
L’un des grands moments fut sans aucun doute la photographie du grand tétras depuis les affûts durant les derniers jours de la période de parade.
Observer le comportement fascinant de cet oiseau emblématique, profondément lié à la forêt boréale, reste toujours une expérience particulière et un privilège à vivre au cœur de la nuit.
Malgré les conditions météorologiques inhabituelles ce printemps, l’activité est restée très forte à Kuusamo.

Back home after this spring tour through northern Finland with . Ending it with a truly magical encounter in the heart of the boreal forest.

Great grey owls are among the most fascinating birds to observe in these northern landscapes. Silent, patient, and almost ghost-like between the trees, they perfectly embody the atmosphere of the boreal wilderness.

Moments like this are the reason why these forests feel so special. 🦉✨

De retour à la maison après cette tournée printanière dans le nord de la Finlande avec , avec pour finir une rencontre vraiment magique au cœur de la forêt boréale.

Les chouettes lapones font partie des oiseaux les plus fascinants à observer dans ces paysages nordiques. Silencieuses, patientes, presque fantomatiques entre les arbres, elles incarnent parfaitement l’atmosphère sauvage de la forêt boréale.

Ce sont des moments comme celui-ci qui rendent ces forêts si uniques. 🦉✨

This weekend, it was finally time for me to bring the floating hide back out and return to those peaceful mornings that begin long before sunrise.

Despite the freezing fingers and the early alarm, it was absolutely worth it, just to witness the first soft lights arriving over the sea, with the whooper swans gliding through the pastel colors of dawn.

Those moments never last long, but they always feel unforgettable.

Spring is returning. 🦢✨

Ce week-end, il était enfin temps pour moi de ressortir l’affût flottant et de retrouver ces matins paisibles qui commencent bien avant le lever du soleil.

Malgré le froid, les doigts gelés et le réveil bien trop tôt, cela en valait largement la peine, simplement pour assister aux premières lumières du jour sur la mer, pendant que les cygnes chanteurs glissaient dans les couleurs pastel de l’aube.

Ces instants ne durent jamais longtemps, mais ils restent toujours inoubliables.

Le printemps est de retour. 🦢✨
