I continue with the image review of this spring tour in Finland with .
One of the highlights was definitely photographing the capercaillie from hides during the last days of the lekking season.
Observing the fascinating behaviour of this iconic bird, deeply connected to the boreal forest, is always a special experience and something we can feel lucky to witness in the early hours of the night.
Despite the unusual weather conditions this spring, the sightings remained very active in Kuusamo.

L’un des grands moments fut sans aucun doute la photographie du grand tétras depuis les affûts durant les derniers jours de la période de parade.
Observer le comportement fascinant de cet oiseau emblématique, profondément lié à la forêt boréale, reste toujours une expérience particulière et un privilège à vivre au cœur de la nuit.
Malgré les conditions météorologiques inhabituelles ce printemps, l’activité est restée très forte à Kuusamo.

Back home after this spring tour through northern Finland with . Ending it with a truly magical encounter in the heart of the boreal forest.

Great grey owls are among the most fascinating birds to observe in these northern landscapes. Silent, patient, and almost ghost-like between the trees, they perfectly embody the atmosphere of the boreal wilderness.

Moments like this are the reason why these forests feel so special. 🦉✨

De retour à la maison après cette tournée printanière dans le nord de la Finlande avec , avec pour finir une rencontre vraiment magique au cœur de la forêt boréale.

Les chouettes lapones font partie des oiseaux les plus fascinants à observer dans ces paysages nordiques. Silencieuses, patientes, presque fantomatiques entre les arbres, elles incarnent parfaitement l’atmosphère sauvage de la forêt boréale.

Ce sont des moments comme celui-ci qui rendent ces forêts si uniques. 🦉✨

This weekend, it was finally time for me to bring the floating hide back out and return to those peaceful mornings that begin long before sunrise.

Despite the freezing fingers and the early alarm, it was absolutely worth it, just to witness the first soft lights arriving over the sea, with the whooper swans gliding through the pastel colors of dawn.

Those moments never last long, but they always feel unforgettable.

Spring is returning. 🦢✨

Ce week-end, il était enfin temps pour moi de ressortir l’affût flottant et de retrouver ces matins paisibles qui commencent bien avant le lever du soleil.

Malgré le froid, les doigts gelés et le réveil bien trop tôt, cela en valait largement la peine, simplement pour assister aux premières lumières du jour sur la mer, pendant que les cygnes chanteurs glissaient dans les couleurs pastel de l’aube.

Ces instants ne durent jamais longtemps, mais ils restent toujours inoubliables.

Le printemps est de retour. 🦢✨

Today is International Save Bears day, a moment to highlight the importance of protecting one of the true icons of northern wilderness 🐻

In Finland, around 2,300 brown bears live across vast forests and protected areas that are essential for their future.

In April, they will leave their dens and begin to roam through the forests again… a privilege to witness, and a reminder of why these wild places must be preserved 🤎
