Tomorrow starts the Symposium on Artistic Research in Analog Practices with the great pleasure welcoming as our keynote speaker Hannah Fletcher , the founder of the Sustainable Darkroom ✨🌿
Hannah is a visual artist, based in the UK, working predominantly across analogue photography.
"My practice adapts around materials and environments, weaving photographic knowledge, processes and systems into ecological frameworks. This provides me with avenues through which to rethink photographic futures that depart from capitalist ideologies."
Hannah is the founder of the Sustainable Darkroom, a charity dedicated to researching and disseminating lower-toxicity photographic materials and methods. She also co-directs London Alternative Photography Collective, am represented by Land Art Agency and am a facilitator of sustainability within the arts.
"The Sustainable Darkroom is an artist-run charity. Specialising in research, training and mutual learning, equipping cultural practitioners with new skills and knowledge to develop an eco-friendly photographic practice. We aim for a total transformation of the way photographers work, think, and exist in the living world. Engaged with a present understanding of ecology - the Sustainable Darkroom is one of the most contemporary forms of photography to date."
