Black dogs can be tricky to photograph, but when it’s done right, the result is absolutely stunning.

People often say their features get lost in photos, but we’ve found that with the right light and attention to detail, they stand out in the most beautiful way.

This post is a little tribute to all the black dogs who’ve stepped in front of our camera. They’re bold, elegant, expressive and full of personality.

And they deserve to be seen and celebrated just like any other dog 🖤

Orange, brown, and burgundy might not be the most popular background choices in our studio… but honestly? We think they deserve way more love 🍂✨

These warm, rich tones create such a beautiful, timeless look and can make certain coat colours absolutely glow in photos.

They feel cozy, elegant, a little dramatic and so different from the vibrant backdrops most people automatically go for.

Choosing a background is one of our favourite parts of planning a session because the colour can completely change the mood of the final images. And sometimes the “less obvious” choice ends up being the most stunning one 🖤

So here’s your reminder not to overlook the bold colours next time you book a session!

“My dog never looks at the camera…”

We hear this all the time, and honestly, it’s one of the biggest misconceptions about dog photography!

Why? Because your dog doesn't need to sit still and look at the camera.

Some of the most beautiful, emotional, and natural-looking portraits happen when a dog is not staring straight into the lens. A soft glance to the side, a moment of curiosity, or simply being in their own world often tells a much more interesting story than a perfect “look at the camera” pose.

And even when we do want eye contact? We don’t need it for long.

Just a fraction of a second is enough. A tiny moment of attention is where the magic happens. Every dog in this reel gave us exactly that: brief, honest moments… and that was all we needed to create the shot.

No forced poses. No pressure. Just timing, patience, and letting dogs be dogs.

We absolutely love when clients come back for another photoshoot!

This gorgeous girl is Java, who recently visited our studio for the second time - and this time, her family joined the session too 🖤

One of our favourite things about repeat sessions is seeing how dogs grow, change, and become even more confident in front of the camera. Java clearly remembered that being a model is serious business… especially when her favourite ball was involved 🎾😂

Meet Tizon 🧡

A Doberman with presence, elegance… and a whole lot of love for his family.

From the moment he stepped into the studio, Tizon carried himself like he owned the place: calm, confident, and perfectly aware of every camera angle. And while he clearly adores his humans, it didn’t take long to notice he has a very special bond with his dad.

Those little glances, the way he naturally stays close, the ease and comfort between them... it’s something really beautiful to witness.

Of course, mom is very much part of his world too, and the family moments show that loving connection so clearly, but there’s just something extra between Tizon and his dad that’s impossible to miss.

Sessions like this are always a reminder of what we love most about what we do: capturing not just how a dog looks, but how they love.

These 2 poodles came to our studio to do one thing… and that thing was looking fabulous ✨🐩

Honestly, some dogs just know they’re stars. They’re confident, they know how to pose, and they walked into the studio like they owned the place.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes: treats flying, weird noises, and us hyping them up like they were on the cover of Vogue 😂

Was it worth it? We definitely think so.

Staffies are often misunderstood.

But every time we meet one in the studio, they prove the same thing: there’s nothing but sweetness behind those eyes.

This lovely boy came to one of our Essex sessions and showed exactly that. Affectionate and full of love from start to finish!
