Architectural Photographer in Middle East & Africa Nour El Refai (b. 1983 - Cairo, Egypt).

A self-taught photographer, Nour obtained a degree in Architecture at Cairo University and has been working as an Architectural photographer since 2005. He has covered documentary stories and assignments in Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, India, and Turkey. His work has been published in the Financial Times, The Huffington Post and many more. He taught architecture photography at various Egyptian universities and continues to teach workshops in his Studio. Nour received his first film camera as a gift when he was 12 years old and took his first photo on a fishing trip in the Red Sea with his father.

For this coastal home in Marassi Celia, Array Designs arraydesignseg took a fully comprehensive approach, integrating architecture, interiors, and curated furniture selections from Gallotti&Radice, Molteni&C, Kettal, and Pedrali. The result is a cohesive, refined home designed to be naturally connected to its surroundings and seamlessly lived in.

It’s not often that your lunch break includes food served by two-Michelin-star Chef Sergi Arola. This was a rare and highly appreciated perk of this project.
The restaurant design is a nod to high-end European brasseries, defined by striking geometric tiled floors, layered furnishings, and prominent chandeliers.

Shot for Doris Doss Design
Location: Ramses Wissa Wassef Art Center and Habib Gorgi Museum in Al Harraniyah.

Doris Doss is a boutique furniture design studio, rooted in decades of experience and a passion for the use of natural materials. The main ethos of the brand is using natural materials to create pieces that evoke a sense of the past, under a fresh contemporary eye.

Alabaster has a strong presence similar to that of the ancient fortified doors and gates that inspired its design. Layers of massive wood, copper, and bone inlay come together, each hand-carved and hand-worked to bring this piece to life. Every panel of its geometric pattern receives the same artisan that ties the whole piece together.

Nub:
The name means gold, the ancient symbol of power, beauty, and eternity. NUB is a tribute to the Egyptian craftsman who worked by hand. Its repeating facade echoes temple ornamentation and royal chests; its warm tone and metallic touch, the wealth of Egypt.
Presented with warm massive wood, and drenched in mother-of-pearl inlay, NUB comes to life elegantly, catching the surrounding light and reflecting it back softly.

From my shoot capturing the rich materiality and warmth of this Zamalek penthouse, set atop a 1950s building in Gezirah. Designed by SHEWEKAR , finished by Sigma Contractors , the apartment is anchored by this striking sculptural carved-wood staircase.
