As a photographer, you must change your approach when the ambient light dims and the dance floor fills up. The natural light is gone, and you become responsible for shaping the environment.

But, using a flash isn’t only a matter of fixing the problem of insufficient light. It completely changes the atmosphere, making it possible for you to capture the genuine, spontaneous spirit of a party. Still, the ultimate trick of this technique is found in how you decide to focus your attention as a photographer.

It comes down to trusting manual focus. By doing so, you can eliminate your camera’s desperate attempts to find focus in challenging situations. Since the focus is locked, the flash triggers instantly every time. You’ll never miss a shot of the crowd dancing and jumping all around.

The resulting photos might end up to be slightly out of focus, but that’s the point. This subtle imperfection makes the pictures feel more alive, authentic, and pleasing.

Some weddings don’t feel as though they’re about a certain location.

Instead, they feel like the start of something extraordinary.

Destination weddings aren’t just about travelling further away. They’re about choosing a place that feels special, where the landscape can transform a simple ceremony into something memorable, and where the setting will allow the love between two people to flourish. Cliffs, coastlines, mountains, dunes and quiet little alleys are just some of the scenes that make up the story.

It’s not only the spectacular view that makes these wedding celebrations stand out, but also the feeling that comes with it. Moreover, the way two people stand next to each other in a place they intentionally chose can make even the most untamed wilderness feel like a small, private world.

Destination weddings are about more than just choosing breathtaking scenes. They demand capturing the right moment and a perspective that appreciates the majesty of the natural surroundings.

What do you put together when you’re a photographer?
It begins even before the shoot has begun. You pack your camera bag, and without any conscious thought your old reliable 24-70mm is resting comfortably next to the camera.

The fresh SD cards are lined up on a never ending row, the batteries snap into the chargers one after the other. Only then does the day suddenly begin.

Following the task at hand, yet another batch shifts out. RAW files accumulate over your desktop; hard drives fill faster than ever, and while your backup takes care of itself, there’s almost always a cup of coffee next to you. A constant companion of every progress bar with files waiting to be transferred.

Somewhere between cleaning lenses with that one microfiber cloth, you guard like treasure and wondering how your gear collection grew faster than your bank account, you realise these combinations have become your everyday normal.

As a photographer, you realize pretty fast that some words do not mean what you thought they did at all.

„The Weekend“ was once a synonym for switching off completely, but one can argue that these days waking up to an early alarm clock, taking along a suitcase full of batteries, having memory cards crammed with pictures is what photography is all about.

Furthermore „Stop“ is more than a traffic sign or a halting order. It is the essential element that a photographer uses to control the amount of light entering the camera. This will make all the difference in the quality of your image. This very choice composes every frame.

„Prime“ aside from the promise of next-day delivery is also the fixed focal length, the lens without any compromise, the one piece of glass that you come to first when you want the sharpest rendering and the most light possible.

And then there’s „save“. For everyone else, it’s just a button. Photographers need three hard drives, a cloud backup, and that quiet moment of relief when the progress bar finally finishes.

👉 Which everyday word has taken on a totally new meaning for you since you started working as a photographer, and what does it mean now?

For a photographer, a summer day by the coast is one of the few places that really challenge you.

The light is boldly present, bathing the space in a warm glow. Even before 8 in the morning, the sky is already filled with a vibrant glow that lasts until the last hour of the day. There isn’t an overcast sky to soften the intensity or shade that falls where you choose, so you can’t hide from it. It will either turn against you if you don’t learn how to use it.

There won’t be any light like it, though, if you are able to capture that moment when the sun is extremely low and direct light reflects off the sea and me. Out of the blue, everything changes in a way you probably never even thought of. That soft, reflected light from the ocean can fill a whole photo, more than any studio setup could.

Besides, the coast offers a sense of scale. You can make your subjects appear enormous against a narrow horizon or minuscule in the wide blue. Either way, the results are one of a kind.

After all, summer is more challenging for you with a camera. However, the pictures that come out right are self-explanatory.

Swipe through and see what that light actually looks like. ☀️

The light of spring has returned. And frankly, there is really nothing quite like it.

Longer days, blue skies, the first real greens coming through and yet spring gives you so much to work with before you even pick up the camera.

From a photographer’s point of view, spring is a time of control and intention. The light is always changing, creating a magical atmosphere. In the morning, it’s soft and hazy; by midday, the light contrasts, creating a vibrant atmosphere; and in the evening, it’s a gentle, glowing ambience. Meter for skin tones first and let the environment do its magic.

Utilize backlighting with fresh leafs or newly blooming flowers to add depth, dimension and splashes of color to your subject.

Speaking of color: Be mindful that new greens can dominate a frame, so watch your white balance and keep an eye on how skin looks next to the foliage.

Weddings in spring are particularly unpredictable. Clouds can move in quickly, temperatures can drop suddenly, and locations that looked perfect during scouting might feel different on the day of the event, all before you even notice. Portrait sessions require extra time for portraits thus having a shaded backup spot is key!

Furthermore be ready to pivot between direct sun, open shade, and overcast light. This will ensure a calm, intentional portrait session, rather than a rushed compromise.

Starting today, your galleries just got even more consistent.

We've fundamentally upgraded our AI. It now works even more like a human editor by comparing each image with all other edited results from the same shoot.

That means white balance, exposure and overall tonality feel even more cohesive across the entire set - not just image by image, but as one complete story.
