So we’ve compiled eight honest ways to make it through with your energy, and your galleries, intact. 👀

Map your week before it starts, and give your inbox actual opening hours instead of answering all day. Cap your calendar early rather than squeezing in „just one more“ booking.

Cull with discipline: you don’t need 15 versions of the same pose and let the edit move faster, too. ✨ That’s usually where your evenings quietly disappear.

Batch your shoots, get your gear ready ahead of time, and bank a few rest days and captions before the season takes over your calendar. 🗓️ A rest period isn’t a reward for finishing. It’s how you sustain your creativity through these demanding months.

It’s that feeling when a picture looks so natural and spontaneous yet could be in a magazine.

We often talk about the ‚editorial style‘ when discussing wedding photography. However, there is currently a subtle yet lovely shift towards something even more carefree: the loose editorial vibe. This style brings back the beautiful, sophisticated look we all adore while removing the formality of perfect posing.

Rather than instructing the couple on the position of their hands or where to look, you set the lighting, arrange the scene and then take a step back. There’s freedom to move and capture a spontaneous laugh or a gust of wind that blows the veil out of frame. Sometimes, it’s the little motion blur or missed focus that makes the picture come alive.

The magic usually happens during those transitional moments, right when the couple think the session is over and give up their pose to take a breath. It’s in these moments that the authentic story is captured, in a style that’s both elegant and raw.

Working with light is a skill that you continually refine, and some days you really understand why it’s so important.

At the beginning, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by sessions in bright sunlight. Contrasts are more demanding, and the shadows are quite challenging. More importantly, each frame requires more thought. However, if you embrace the light and use it to your advantage, the situation will transform completely. What was once so oppressive will quickly become something strong, clear, and full of character.

As a photographer, these experiences make you think differently. For example, they make you discover where a ray of sunlight hits a surface. There’s also the skill of softening an image, even when it’s bright outside. In these cases, shadow, backlight, reflection, and flash aren’t simply used to „fix“ a photo, but actually serve to create one’s signature style.

The great thing about a sunny day is that it allows no randomness in your work. You have to be intentional. In the end, the photos reflect a kind of clarity that’s characteristic of proper exposure.

As a photographer, you must change your approach when the ambient light dims and the dance floor fills up. The natural light is gone, and you become responsible for shaping the environment.

But, using a flash isn’t only a matter of fixing the problem of insufficient light. It completely changes the atmosphere, making it possible for you to capture the genuine, spontaneous spirit of a party. Still, the ultimate trick of this technique is found in how you decide to focus your attention as a photographer.

It comes down to trusting manual focus. By doing so, you can eliminate your camera’s desperate attempts to find focus in challenging situations. Since the focus is locked, the flash triggers instantly every time. You’ll never miss a shot of the crowd dancing and jumping all around.

The resulting photos might end up to be slightly out of focus, but that’s the point. This subtle imperfection makes the pictures feel more alive, authentic, and pleasing.

What do you put together when you’re a photographer?
It begins even before the shoot has begun. You pack your camera bag, and without any conscious thought your old reliable 24-70mm is resting comfortably next to the camera.

The fresh SD cards are lined up on a never ending row, the batteries snap into the chargers one after the other. Only then does the day suddenly begin.

Following the task at hand, yet another batch shifts out. RAW files accumulate over your desktop; hard drives fill faster than ever, and while your backup takes care of itself, there’s almost always a cup of coffee next to you. A constant companion of every progress bar with files waiting to be transferred.

Somewhere between cleaning lenses with that one microfiber cloth, you guard like treasure and wondering how your gear collection grew faster than your bank account, you realise these combinations have become your everyday normal.
