Dire Dawa is a major city and an autonomous city-state in eastern Ethiopia. It lies on the Dechatu River and has a population of around 500,000. The city was founded in 1902 as part of the construction of the Ethiopia–Djibouti Railway and serves as a key hub for trade and transport.

My ‘BLACKBOARD’ project | ETHIOPIA .... 2027

The journey continues in 2027! My project, which began in 2025 at two schools in Kenya on Lake Turkana and was carried out this year at three schools in Ethiopia, will now – as I envisage it – involve the construction of new ‘school blackboards’.
I have already received the first enquiries, including some from Konzo. There are three rural schools there: in Gamelo, Michelo and Buso. All the schools there are in urgent need of support.
