Nine-banded Armadillo.

The most common armadillo in Costa Rica is the nine-banded armadillo. These nocturnal omnivores use their tough, leathery shells for protection and forage at night for insects, worms, and fruit using their keen sense of smell. They are famously able to hold their breath for up to six minutes and always give birth to identical quadruplets.

Scarlet /thighed Dacnis.

Small and striking tanager with very sharp bill. Male superficially similar to Blue Dacnis but most of body black; head, back, and shoulder electric turquoise-blue. Red eye. Scarlet “thighs” inconspicuous and difficult to see in the field. Female less obvious than male; note turquoise face contrasting with buffy belly. Usually stays in the canopy of forest edges; pairs often follow mixed feeding flocks.

Black - Collared Hawk.

The black-collared hawk is a species of bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. It is monotypic within the genus Busarellus. It has a widespread range of presence, from western Mexico to Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and swamps.

Largest kingfisher with exceptionally enormous bill raucous calls.

Toucan Pico Iris (også kaldet Canoe Pico Toucan) hvis næb og ansigt fremviser en variation i forhold til himmelfarven i stedet for dens klassiske gule, røde og grønne toner. Nøgle observation detaljer Art: Ramphastos sulfuratus (Toucan Pico Iris). Sted: Pocosol, San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica. Celeste Mutation: Det er et rigtig vildt eksemplar med blå/celeste næb.

Helt unikt og kendt som den eneste i verden.

Red-legged-Honeycreeper.

Small, warbler-like tanager of tropical lowlands. Favors forest edge, woodland, and semi-open areas with taller trees. Often occurs in small groups, sometimes larger flocks, usually in the canopy of flowering trees, where it probes for nectar with its long bill. Red legs are bright on male, dullest on young birds. Male is blue in breeding plumage, with a turquoise cap; female and non-breeding male are greenish overall with faint streaking on the chest. In flight, the underside of the wings flash bright sulphur-yellow.
