Warm welcome to the immersive installation Swept Away by the Undertow by SINON Collective exploring the cyclical relationship between water, the human body, and urban space. The work invites us to understand water as a living, shared presence rather than a passive resource. What does it mean to grant water agency? How can we listen to it?
For the visual component, Anna-Tia Buss I Photographer photographed water surfaces on analog film. Before development, the exposed film strips were soaked in her own urine, a gesture that intertwines bodily fluid with bodies of water. The resulting images are printed on textile and form the heart of the installation: aesthetic images made from what is commonly considered “waste.” composed an accompanying soundscape from field recordings, spoken text, and piano. Voices of the water intertwine with personal reflections. The sounds unfold slowly, inviting pause and close listening.
Visitors can share their own thoughts via an online form. These will be collected and woven into the soundscape over the course of the exhibition. A QR code also allows visitors to dive directly into the soundworld.
