The vast tundra surrounding Aylmer Lake Lodge offers one of the most striking landscapes on Earth, where open skies meet endless stretches of subarctic terrain. Sweeping, rolling hills painted in golden autumn mosses, low-lying brush, and weathered rock create a rugged, unspoiled wilderness.

Because the landscape is so open and treeless, every ridge provides a massive horizon where wildlife can be spotted moving naturally across the tundra. The pristine, untouched environment reflects the true spirit of the Far North—quiet, grand, and breathtakingly wild.

Huge shout out to my good buddy Chris Gibbs for taking the runner up in the terrestrial category of Can Geo’s wildlife photographer of the year! Huge accomplishment!

I am incredibly thrilled and honoured to share that my photo was named the runner up in the Terrestrial Life category for Canadian Geographic’s 2026 Canadian Wildlife Photography of the Year competition.

Having my work recognised alongside such remarkably talented peers is truly humbling. A sincere thank you to Canadian Geographic and the judges for this wonderful honour.

My good buddy Paul Lavoie sent me some images he took of me last year at Aylmer Lake Lodge. These images have me fired up to get back out there in a week. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the entire world. I’m so stoked to be going back to see caribou, wolverines, grizzlies, wolves, moose, Arctic ground squirrels, Arctic hares, Arctic foxes, waterfowl galore, and all kinds of raptors.
