The most fun glam-meets-backyard-wedding in Orillia last year 🍾

I literally met Gagan as I photographed her walking down the aisle, and immediately knew that this was going to be such a good day. Both Gagan and Brad are such warm, fun, charming humans, and their chosen people were just the same. There were moms and aunties in the kitchen making sure I’d had enough to eat. There were TikTok routines being learned and recorded - right on the dance floor. There was an old camcorder being passed around and countless Polaroids snapped. There was dancing - so much dancing - laughter, hugs, and joy: all my favourite things.
And, just because they’re damn good at throwing a party, we ended the night with fireworks and sparklers. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Oh, and that wicked fun yellow room from slide 1? Yea. It’s a laundry room. How. Fun.

Frame 1 is my favourite maternity photo I’ve ever taken.
It was the last shot of the night. The jacket, not a part of the chosen outfits, thrown on because of the cold. The wind already having wreaked havoc on perfect hair. The light all but gone after losing the sun to the clouds before sunset.
But the tenderness? In full display.

You can plan for weather and location and lighting and outfits and STILL not get images that make you feel something. Because in order to get those ones, you have to be willing to feel.

I will always document first for feeling, second for all the rest.

Summer Booking Update

Hey pals! Just a little update for you on availability for sessions this summer. I’m currently booking well into June/July - May is fully booked.

At this time, I’m working on finding space for some Motherhood Minis, but the reality is that they’re entirely dictated by spring weather and have either been gorgeous or rained out 😅. I WILL be offering minis this summer, but in the new format that I tried out last year (evenings over the course of a week, no more one-day blitzes for me). If I do find space for motherhood minis, they will likely be after Mother’s Day (for better weather).

At this time, my dates for sessions over the summer are a little bit up in the air while I wait for my son’s sport schedule (iykyk). I’m happy to pencil in dates and we can figure out exact ones closer to ☺️

Typically, Saturday’s are not available for sessions as they are held for weddings. If a Saturday remains open, they’ll be available for booking ~6 weeks out.

Last year I took on significantly less than in years prior, and it was very much the right decision for myself creatively as well as for our family. I’ll be following suit this year, for the benefit of everyone ☺️.

How to get family photos that feel like home:

1) you have to be fully present. I mean that - you have to be there, in that moment, experiencing it for real.

2) you have to embrace play & silliness. This is what brings out those giggles and grins that make our heart explode. You can’t spend the whole session trying to contain their joy - it has to be let out.

3) you have to welcome imperfection. That’s all life is made of, really. Perfect is a myth.

4) you have to let them be their funny little selves. They’re figuring out who they are, and we are so lucky to be witness to it.

5) you have to leave space for the quiet moments

6) and the ones that feel slow

7) you really just have to lead with love. Isn’t that what these photos are for? To document love?

Everything else will follow. I promise.

Book your family photos. Just pencil in a date for now. We can change it if needed, but don’t let it pass by. Don’t let them get bigger without documenting this stage of life. It goes too damn fast.

Let me show you what a fully felt wedding looks like.

So many hugs I lost count. Unveiled goofy moments. Full face grins. Tears. Laughter. Unapologetic realness.

This is what it’s about, you know? The day isn’t about the photos, the photos are about the day. And emotion? I can’t photoshop that. It’s either there or it isn’t. You either feel it or you don’t - and it will show in the end result, whether you did or you didn’t.

I’m not here to photograph Pinterest perfect days. I don’t want the posed, matching bridesmaid + champagne on the bed photo. I’m s**t at flat lays (although I had fun with the one from this wedding). I couldn’t care less what shade of cream you’ve chosen for your tablecloths. And for the love of creativity, I won’t photograph another country club wedding ever again. The Industry has pushed weddings into a sterility that I just don’t understand and can’t get behind - I never could. It’s why I didn’t have a traditional wedding myself, and never really thought there was a place for me in the wedding photographer world.
But days like this one: with your chosen people, your own backyard, handmade decor (and Gracie’s dress!!!!) and a goal to just be present… yea, that’s my favourite. I’ll show up early, stay late, and laugh and cry along with you.

Tiff & Grace, thank you for being such incredible humans. This will forever be a favourite. 🤍

Why cottage weddings might be one of my favourite things to photograph:

1) there’s a story everywhere you look. Photos on the walls. Food in the fridge. Your favourite mug ready to grab for coffee. It’s an entirely different experience than hosting a wedding at your local country club - the whole thing feels different. It feels like home.

2) the relaxation and comfort is literally palpable. You’re in a familiar space, you know where everything is, you’re not tied to anyone else’s rules, timelines, or setup. You make the rules, you use the space how you want.

3) it’s entirely unique. It’s not the same venue that half your town uses, and it’s shared with only a select few - a completely exclusive experience.

I will always prefer bonfires over banquet halls and barefoot first dances.

If I could share every single photo from Brianna & Jordan’s wedding, I would. It was a dream day - filled with the most wonderful humans and the best of vibes. These are the kinds of days that fill my cup as a wedding photographer.

Everyone always wants “perfect” weather for their photos… except for Hillary, Riley, and I 😅

Their engagement session was back in November (I will never not love how moody November is), dodging rain storms with absolutely no other option than to go ahead and embrace the day. We ate pizza and picked old apples; played with Koda, their *massive* Saint Bernard. They danced in the rain and listened to music… and we had a grand time.

I am a firm believer that there’s no bad weather, just bad attitudes 👀, and these two understood the assignment. Honestly - this is what it’s about, right here. Life isn’t perfect. But seeing the beauty in what is, right here, right now… that’s all that you can do.

I am so excited to celebrate with H & R tomorrow. What a perfect couple to kick off my 2026 wedding season with. 🤍

Intimate weddings will always be my favourite🔥.

Images from T&C’s literally perfect summer wedding, where they shared private vows and portraits at Harrison Park, then held the most cozy reception ever at my new favourite place in town, .

They wanted a zero-pressure day with a chance to enjoy their favourite people, eat delicious food, and celebrate the love between them and their families - and it was exactly that. I’m so looking forward to more days like this (even though the recent weather feels like it will never end…)!

Normally, I’d have all the words for something like this. Writing it out would help me process and move through the grief. But this time, they’re not there.

Instead, I sit with guilt and sadness. And gratitude. So much gratitude for him.
