The University of Victoria's photography club.Photoclub is what the membership makes it. Since technology is always changing, we try to focus on the fundamentals of photography. We also know that most students are on a budget and keep that in mind. Many of our workshops and discussions apply to most cameras, digital and analog. There is something for everyone in Photoclub!Q: I would like to joi
n your club...Is there some things I need to do?A: It is really not difficult to join Photoclub. The club is part of the UVSS clubs system and is open to all students. Q: I'm not actually taking photography but I do an immense amount of it. How does Photoclub work?A: We try to run Photoclub by consensus. We expect people who have specific wants to express them. That way we can be more proactive in our scheduling of events, workshops, and discussions. We try to facilitate as many activities as we can within our limited budget and time. But it’s you, the member, who makes Photoclub what it is. Q: Is there any information about the photo club at UVic this semester?A: Information will be forthcoming after Clubs Days. We shape our schedule to the needs of the membership. There are a number of things we do year after year. Check the history of Photoclub on our facebook group and you will see what we have done in the past. We do not mind repeating what we have done, because we can always do it better. And the membership always renews every year.Q: I'm a new student at UVIC,and I'm not quite familiar with the process of joining a club, but I am definitely interested in access to the darkroom, among other things, and I would love to learn more!A: First, join the club as above. Photoclub has continuous darkroom workshops throughout the year. If that is your main interest, you are not alone. Once you have completed at least one darkroom orientation or workshop you can sign up for full access. There is a nominal fee for darkroom use. Once the fee is paid you get key access to the darkroom. The fee also includes chemistry but not photo-paper or film.Welcome to Photoclub!
