One of the biggest questions new parents ask when deciding on photos is: Should we do our newborn photos in a studio or at home?

Here are some pros and cons of each:

In-Home Newborn Session

Pros
Captures your family’s real environment and story
Includes meaningful details such as the nursery
No need to pack up a newborn and leave the house
Creates a more relaxed, lifestyle-focused feel

Cons
Requires spaces with good natural light
Homes can feel cluttered during those busy newborn weeks
Less control over backgrounds and lighting

Studio Newborn Session

Pros
Clean, timeless backgrounds that keep the focus on your baby
Consistent lighting regardless of weather or time of day
Ideal for a polished and cohesive gallery

Cons
Requires traveling with a newborn
Less personal than photographing in your own home
Doesn’t include the environment where these memories are happening
Studio fee

There isn’t a right or wrong choice. The best session is the one that fits your family’s wants and comfort level. Whether we’re documenting your baby’s first days in your home or creating timeless portraits in the studio, the most important thing is preserving this fleeting season before it slips away.
