Attempted BTS. Results: see above.

I know there's a lot of conversation right now about photographers and other vendors shooting content at weddings. I don't have a strong opinion about what anyone else does. I just know that every time I think I'm going to shoot BTS, something more important is happening and I forget to. And I'm good with that.

Georgian Hills Vineyard wedding mornings are hard to beat.

A cottage on Georgian Bay, a game of pool with the guys, and a quiet start to the day before everyone made their way to the vineyard.

Sometimes the simplest mornings are the best ones.

Some places make the work feel effortless. Some places make the work feel effortless. Cherryvale is one of them.

There's something about Prince Edward County in the late afternoon that does half the job before you've even lifted a camera. The light, the land, the particular quietness of it.

This wedding had everything. A first look so tender it stopped time. A ceremony that really moved. And then a hora that I can only describe as pure, uncontained joy. The kind of dancing that makes you forget you're working entirely.

I love photographing weddings in Prince Edward County. If you're planning a wedding at Cherryvale or anywhere in the County and something in my work feels right, I'd love to talk. Link in bio.

"Made with love." It says so right on the box.

I don't usually lead with something this sentimental... but in this case it's just true.

This is my cousin's wedding. I was there that day as his photographer and as his family, which is its own particular kind of honour. Every polaroid on every page, I placed there myself. Chose what sat next to what. Thought about what he'd want to find when they open this in thirty years. Wore fancy white gloves so nothing got scuffed.

A photograph is already an act of defiance against forgetting. A custom made album you can hold, with a velvet cover and pages that turn and polaroids placed by hand, that's something your body understands differently than a screen ever could.

The feeling of that day lives in here now. Tangible. Permanent. Held.

It's safely in the right hands now. ❤️ Love you two!

Oh, movement. How I love you.

Maybe this stems from my love of dance.
Maybe it's from my obsession with film.
Maybe it's from being a figure skater and often seeing the world blurred or sideways.
Maybe she's born with it.
Maybe there's no real reason.
Maybe it's just awesome.

The June Motel in Beaver Valley is a bit of a hidden gem.

It sits right along the river, with the escarpment just above it.

The lodge is quiet and cozy, and everything feels a little more calm than you’d expect.
The ceremony was full sun, umbrellas scattered through the crowd.

Dinner was in the tent with the lights strung up overhead.

I’ve been thinking about this image a lot.

April 16th would have been my grandma’s 99th birthday. And ya know what? I miss her something fierce. She didn't make it to our wedding. She wanted to. She would have been a hoot on the dancefloor and had seconds of our wedding cake. Maybe even thirds. But she wasn't well enough to be there.

I think part of why I do this work is because of how quickly time moves… and how much we don’t get to hold onto. How often the people we love miss out, and how often we miss out on them.

Moments like this feel small when they’re happening.
But they’re the ones that stay.

You’ll probably hear a lot of opinions about first looks.
But it’s not really about what’s recommended.
It’s about what fits you.

Some people feel more grounded having that moment together beforehand.

Others don’t want to lose the feeling of seeing each other for the first time down the aisle.
Both are valid.

This first look in Meaford felt easy, playful, and private.
It gave them space to be together before everything else unfolded.

That’s usually the question to come back to: what will help you feel the most like yourselves?

Full Review - “Frances was such a phenomenal photographer for our wedding last September. She is such a kind soul, and makes you feel very comfortable in front of the camera. We were drawn to Frances for her unique perspective and her artistic, editorial photographs.

Thank you for capturing one of the best weekends of my life; thank you for connecting with us on a human level; thank you for the advice and kind words during moments of stress.

(We love all the pictures you took, and we are so excited to relive those memories again and again)”

I was with Ashley last night and it had me thinking about this.

These were my flowers.

I got married just outside of Owen Sound, and I chose dear friends of mine to be part of the day. To help bring the day together.
Ashley from made these.

I didn’t come to her with a plan.
I didn’t have a vision.
Just a feeling.

I knew I wanted colour.
Texture.
Nothing that felt too heavy or overdone.
That was about the extent of it.

And then I handed it over.
Trusted her to take that small, not-fully-formed idea
and turn it into something that would feel right when I was standing there, holding it.

I think about that now, from the other side.
How different it feels when you don’t have to manage every detail.

When you trust the people around you to take care of things in ways you don’t have the language for yet.

These photos weren’t taken by me.
I wasn’t working that day.
I was just there.
The way it should be, IMHO.

And I got to experience what that kind of trust actually feels like.
