I am so excited to be working with Kimberley from this month on a project to create awareness for Breast Cancer. We all know someone in our lives who has been affected by this, and creating awareness means someone doesn't feel alone, it creates community, and helps to change the stigmas around the diagnosis. We want women to be aware that, it can happen to you, but also that you can get through it. WE WANT TO SHARE YOUR STORY... to help others.

So, if you want to be part of our project (happening on Sept 13th) give me a shout. If you want to share your story, we will listen, you will also get a photograph of yourself - because - well.... the disease doesn't define who you are. We want to show your strength.

There’s something I absolutely LOVE about working with brands. ❤️

It’s not just about creating beautiful photos. I get to meet the people behind the business, interact with their employees, learn how they work, and hear about the ways they serve their clients.

Every company is different. Every team has its own personality, energy, and essence. I get a front-row seat to it all.

I learn SO much from the people I photograph.

Working with small businesses has given me an even deeper appreciation for the owners, entrepreneurs and incredible people working behind the scenes to make their businesses successful.

These sessions aren’t just about me creating images for them. They’re about relationships, connection, learning from one another and lifting each other up.

That’s one of my favourite parts of this job. I get to walk into a business as their photographer and often walk away feeling like I’ve made new friends, learned something valuable and gained a whole new appreciation for what they do.

This is why I love branding photography. The photos are important—but the people behind them are what make it so much fun. ❤️

A New Name. The Same Heart.

Back in May, I made a strategic change that had been years in the making. I moved my sports, school, dance and child portrait work from Stacey Tompkins Photography into something created specifically for it: Steps Photo Company.

Why? Because the work is different. The workflow is different. The systems, products and service I’ve built for clubs, schools and families are completely different from the branding and portrait work I do through Stacey Tompkins Photography.

For years, I’ve been learning, building systems, testing products and finding software that could make school and sports photography easier for clubs, coaches, parents—and for me. And I finally reached the point where I had everything I needed to build this into something really special.

So to all the parents and clubs who have supported me through Stacey Tompkins Photography over the years: thank you. ❤️

It’s still me behind Steps Photo Co. And while I hope to eventually grow the company and have others join me, the heart of what I do will always remain the same:

To create beautiful memories of kids doing what they love—and to treat every child with kindness, patience and understanding of their age, their stage and their sport.

Because every parent deserves beautiful portraits of their child doing what they love.

It is no secret that I love edgy light. It's fun to execute and dynamic to look at. But here's the thing… light isn't just about making someone look good. It's about creating a feeling.
Sometimes that feeling is soft and approachable. Sometimes it's bold, powerful and a little badass. And honestly? I love when a portrait has a little attitude.

**We’re looking for women who have experienced breast cancer and are willing to share a piece of their story.**

Why?

Because sometimes seeing someone else’s face, hearing their story, and knowing *“I’m not the only one”* can make all the difference.

This project is about community.
It’s about feeling seen.
It’s about celebrating the woman behind the diagnosis.
And it’s about creating a beautiful portrait that reflects the strength, resilience and person you are beyond your cancer journey.

Whether you were recently diagnosed, are currently in treatment, are living with metastatic breast cancer, are in remission, or are years beyond treatment — **we want to hear your story.**

There’s something I absolutely love about photographing people while they’re doing what they do best.

Clients completely in their element, doing what they are good at, so their clients understand their services better.

These are the moments that tell a story.

The concentration. The passion. The personality. The little details that show exactly who someone is and what they bring to their work.
