hiiiii friends!!

my brother is firing up his own construction business! he’s been in the trade for many many years. his attention to detail is out of this world + he’s determined to get the job done correctly (as he’s a perfectionist lol)

he built the addition to our deck last summer + its immaculate! 😍

9 years ago today, I created my very first “business” page. And I say “business” VERY lightly because honestly… I had no idea what I was doing 😂

It all started thanks to my past coworker + very good friend (.mackay love you ❤️) who pushed me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to make a page. Back then, my business was called Life Through My Lens – Karissa Plewis 😂

I started out doing free sessions for coworkers and their families, which snowballed into their friends, and eventually I started charging a tiny bit. I think my first paid sessions were $60—and even then, I felt guilty asking for it. I bought an iPad and delivered pictures one by one through email… brandon + I laugh hard about it now, but at the time I thought that’s just how it was done.

I also remember swearing I would never shoot weddings—because it’s such a huge milestone, and I didn’t want to risk messing that up. But fast forward only four months into my photography journey, Kass messaged me asking if I’d shoot her wedding in January 2017. I was so nervous, I remember talking it over with my husband because I truly had no idea what I was doing.

From there it’s been years of trial + error, so much learning, plenty of grey hairs… but it has all been worth it. Today, I get to call this my career. I’m my own boss, I have incredible clients (many of whom have become true friends), and yes—I actually have a website now to deliver galleries 😜

This journey has taught me that success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built on persistence, trial and error, and the courage to keep chasing your dreams even when progress feels slow. If you keep showing up, the fruit of your hard work will come!! 👊🏼

2024 ✨

What a busy year. Raising 2 little humans along side my hubby while growing another + trying to keep my business afloat + flourishing.

Was it hard + stressful at times? Oh ya.

Am I expecting the same this coming year? OH YA LOL I chucked another child in the mix 😂

But I’ll be trying my best to say no when necessary even though I’m a friggen workaholic + can’t stay still 🤣

I don’t have many good words to express though how happy this career makes me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love, trust, support, word-of-mouth + regulars for supporting me + my biz!! Being apart of your stories helping you relive moments through pictures makes my heart SO happy - thank you for trusting me 🤍

So maybe the word I’m looking for is…. gratitude 🤍

Here’s to 2025 with my completed family and a business that I am proud to call mine!!

Ohhhh don’t you worry, I’m very surprised too BUT SHE’S HERE!!!! I’ve got my girl gang + my mother instincts were wrong about the gender the whole pregnancy 🤣

It’s been a whirlwind past few days but we are doing good. I’m happy. She’s healthy + that’s all that matters.

It’s been a bit since I did a booking update!!

June + July: fully booked - still waiting on a few babies that are on my list to make their debut.
August: booked up till last week of August! (Same thing regarding the babies)
September: can take on maybe 2 more sessions
October: I will be doing a fall minis marathon - watch for a date! First 2 weeks of October are booked!
November - open, so let’s do your Christmas shoots this month!!
December - baby month, won’t be doing any shoots! 👶🏼

NEXT YEAR:
Since we are expanding our family, I won’t be shooting every weekend. My photography work load will be dropping significantly but I will still be shooting as I LOVE IT!!

Weddings wise: I’ll only be taking on a handful of weddings when works best with my family/husbands work schedule!

2025 grads:
I will only be taking on maybe 8 graduates. I have a list started so if you want on that list, shoot me a message! Only a few spots left!!
