I really need to keep on top of things.. I have been busy with life and progressing my vision! My brain is a jumbled mess over building a whole new site that will be boatloads easier, making new processes, new packages, the whole shabam. A complete overhaul. Logo, everything..;. because I care about how my people feel and I care that they have the easiest time ever working with me. There is enough stress in this world and I don't want to be one of them.

I am proud of what I have built over my entire photography career, even if I had to take a long break to move, support my family for a while, and adjust to parenthood and the family. I wouldn't change it for the world. I have met some amazing people, experienced the good and bad, and I am coming out stronger. I have been able to reflect on the past, present and future in my jumbled brain. I am a photographer, but I am also a highly creative person. I cannot fit into a certain "type" of photography. It is not my style. I tried and tried,... it is not happening. My brain is contantly going a mile a minute with creative everything.. just ask my husband. I am sure I drive him crazy. So while I may not fit into the photographer persona and it may make me look scattered and perhaps that I am not good at what I do, I am good at what I do, I am just wired differently. I am organized chaos. I am a lifelong learner - I will never stop learning and evolving. People wont like my idnetity, and that's okay.... I am not for everyone.

Anyways.. enough with my babbling.. I am sharing my new page with you. Google hasn't found it and changed it from the old one yet. Take a look and hope to see you on the other side (= ooo. ✨🧠 My brain officially cannot stay inside the box anymore. 🧠✨

Hey everyone! I launched Krystal Thomas Photography & Photo Restoration here in Nova Scotia back in June, and the amazing artisan market scene out east has been so inspiring. This community is bursting with creativity, and feeding off that energy is exactly what keeps my artistic fire lit! 🔥

If you're originally from Calgary, you might remember my old company there, Mirror's Edge Photography, where I was obsessed with styled shoots. I'm sharing one of my favorite creative sessions from back west (attached here!) to show you the exact vibe I'm bringing to the East Coast.

I’ve had a blast with pet photography and local sessions since June, but now I’m craving the beautiful chaos of one-of-a-kind, completely untraditional shoots, you know, the completely unhinged ones! I want couples who want a crazy, wild engagement session they fully styled themselves, best friends being silly and memorable, and families who want photos that show off who they actually are—no stiff poses allowed! 🤪💥

Ooooo.. I am so excited!! I am almost done my new webpage!!! Couple more things to add in and she will be done. Happy dance. I have came to despise website creation. Hats off to those who do it for a living!

YOU NEED TO SEE THESE SAVED PHOTOS!

Photo restoration brings me so much joy. There is truly nothing better than seeing a client’s reaction when they can finally see their grandparents' faces clearly! ❤️

Over time, environmental factors like heat, humidity, and UV light cause the silver compounds in old photographs to break down, resulting in a faded, muddy tone.

For this project, I took two tiny, aged originals and breathed new life into them:
• 📸 The horse photo: Scanned from a 2x3.5" original and printed as a 5x7". Based on the era, this was originally captured in classic black and white.
• 📸 The couple photo: Scanned from a 2x2" original and printed as a 5x7". This one originally featured a beautiful, warm sepia tone.
• 🔍 The final slide: Shows a close-up of a tear right across the grandmother's face.

While a photograph looks like one cohesive image, it is actually made up of thousands of tiny pixels. When a photo gets ripped, scratched, or dusty, that visual data is lost. The stark white lines you see in the zoom shot represent that completely missing information.

Our physical memories will continue to degrade over the years. Don't let your family history fade away—restore your old photos today to carry on your legacy. ✨

🚨 Business PSA: Watch out for sophisticated scams! 🚨

Photographers and local small businesses, keep your guard up. I wanted to share a quick story about an inquiry I received today to help keep everyone safe.

I got an email inquiry for an event shoot—a casual 2016 high school reunion here in Springhill. The details sounded perfect, and the email was incredibly convincing. We chatted back and forth most of the day, settled on a price, and everything seemed great.

Then came the payment phase. I requested my standard 50% upfront deposit to secure the date. The "client" asked if a check was okay. While it’s not my preferred method, I agreed to hold the spot tentatively until we could arrange a pickup.

That’s when the major red flag went up: they claimed they were out of town and tried to send me photos of a check instead.

I firmly restated my secure payment methods and asked two simple verification questions: where exactly was the venue, and which Springhill high school did they graduate from?

Silence. 🤫

They completely ghosted me because their plan failed. This is a classic "fake check" scam where fraudsters try to get you to deposit a fraudulent check (often overpaying you) and ask you to send money back to them or a "planner" before the bank realizes the check is fake.

The moral of the story: Trust your gut! Always enforce your payment policies, ask local questions to verify identity, and never accept shady check terms. Stay safe out there, creative community! 💪📸

📸 I have officially been crowned Pup of the Week. Honestly? Deserved.

During my cover shoot, the photographer was groveling in the dirt just to capture my breathtaking symmetry. My owner stood behind them doing an embarrassing, empty-handed dance—no snacks, just vibes. I pretended not to know them; a true icon stays focused on the lens.

To give the photo a high-fashion, avant-garde edge, I modeled with a rustic piece of tree bark. Is it art? Is it garbage? The camera will never know. I held the pose flawlessly while the shutter clicked at Mach speed.

The moment they yelled "Cut," I broke character, trotted over, and dropped my soggy prop on the photographer's shoe. They actually brought the elite goods: Beggin' Strips. I devoured that smoky, bacony paycheck like a true diva, completely snubbing my empty-handed owner.

But a supermodel's time is precious. The second the bacon was secured, I spotted my tiny best friend at the edge of the yard. I instantly launched into sport mode, ditched the glamorous life, and sprinted full speed to tackle the little human for some chaotic victory belly rubs. ✨

Its been a hot minute since I have printed any of my landscapes. I had a period where I thought they were utter garbage. Faith in myself has been restored.. I am absolutely loving this photo from down at Peggs Cove. This is the only time I wish my house wasn't so white and bright, the reflections are a beep.
