A little frog, on a lily pad in a pond in Gangneung, South Korea. I took this photo in 2012. It was the last set of photos I took with my D200 as my main body before I got my D800. This photo, to my knowledge is my most stolen photo in my library.

Editing some Cape d’Or lighthouse sunrise shots. Realized I can take a still photo, use the screen recording feature and up the white balance to make it look like the sunrise in action.

Surprise proposal at Cape d’Or lighthouse. 3 months of planning and about 2,000km (1,200+ miles). This is what I had envisioned for Gabe and Alex, who made the trip from North Carolina for this special moment that Gabe and Alex’s father managed to keep secret for at least the 3 months when Eric, Alex’s father, first contacted me about doing this proposal which was a part of the family photo shoot that they wanted. In typical Nova Scotian style, the fog rolled in an hour before the shoot and stuck around for the duration. Once everyone left, the sky decided to co-operate. So I took 2 more shots of the sky and the moon, and then stitched them together to form the shot I had in my head for the last 3 months. Not going to lie, the fog added a different element to the moment that was going to be special regardless because of the love of these two and the entire family.

Between all the fog patches and driving all around the Nova Scotia pan handle, I managed to get a shot I never thought possible. The Northern Lights with the sunrise in the same frame. 15 second exposure. Amherst, Nova Scotia.
