Food: Plan on cooking your own food if your hotel has a kitchen. In any case, bring snacks. There are restaurants in the village but they are pricey. There is a grocery store just a short drive into collingwood. There is a market in the village but it's more of a convenience store.
Alcohol and Cannabis: The age of consumption in Ontario is 19. If you're from out of Canada you may want to bring your passport as proof of age. You can buy wine and beer/coolers in some grocery and convenience stores. But any hard liquor will only be available at government run stores called LCBOs. There is one in the village now, they also sell wine and coolers. There is also a cannabis dispensary in the village. If you're from the US: take precautions not to accidentally bring some across the border home with you. Also, respect people's boundaries. Don't give someone alcohol or cannabis without telling them, even if you're trying to help them enjoy themselves.
Phone and Data plans: Depending on your mobile carrier, you may have difficulty accessing stable data at Blue Mountain. Most mobile carriers have cheap roaming packages you can add to your phone plan that will keep you connected.
General Public: While a lot of the people in the village will be attending Yeticon and aware of the "Cosplay is not Consent" rule. So just be prepared to exercise a little more patience and explain to them to ask first before taking photos. Also, remember that families may be trying to get some sleep at night, so try not to be too loud when partying in hotels.
Sunscreen: You aren't stronger than the sun. Wear sunscreen.
Rain/Thunderstorms: Hopefully the weather will be sunny, but check the forecast and be prepared for rain.
Health: It can be easy to lose yourself in the fun, but remember to stay fed and hydrated. The heat exhaustion can sneak up on you and totally ruin your weekend. Remember to practice hygiene and to get some solid sleep.
Plan ahead: Be sure to check the Yeticon schedule and highlight a few things each day you really want to see/do. Keep a screenshot of the schedule handy on your phone so you can do everything you want to!
