The question I get all the time - “When is the best time to book my baby’s newborn session?”
Basically, anytime *before* your baby is born, and here’s why: the ideal time for a posed newborn session is between 1-3 weeks, with some wiggle room if baby was born early, etc. As soon as baby arrives, we’re on the clock to get you in for your session, and if you wait to reach out after you’ve given birth, that can limit the studio days I have available - which can mean pushing out of that “ideal” window, which in turn could mean a less sleepy baby and a longer or harder session. Booking before babe is born reserves your due date on my calendar and guarantees availability around your birth!
Does this apply to lifestyle sessions too? Well, kinda - while lifestyle sessions are more laid back and unposed, the same principle applies; the sleepier the baby, the smoother the session.
Now, if you waited until after birth to look for a photographer, never fear; if availability allows, I will always take a newborn booking when I can, and usually my finely honed baby whispering skills can get just about any baby to sleep 😜 (I’ve posed babies from 1-13 weeks old 🤪)
So the best time to book? As soon as you’ve decided you want to 😉 when you reach out, we use your due date to create your booking, tentatively reserve a date range on the calendar, and when baby arrives we set a date & time for you to come in. No last minute scrambling to find a photographer who’s style you love & hoping they have availability, when you’ve got your mind on bigger things, like absorbing every precious detail of your new little love 🤎
Oh and one more stressor I take off your hands when you book with me? ✨ your session styling ✨ because who wants to be outfit shopping freshly post partum?! With dozens of beautiful pieces available for all members of the family in my client closet, styling for your session is a breeze and takes a huge piece of the puzzle out of planning your newborn session 💁🏼♀️
