Bright sunshine, a beautiful river breeze, and total family magic! 😍

I had the absolute best time hanging out with this amazing family last week for their River Mini Session. Mother Nature gave us some serious wind and ultra-bright skies, but we pivoted, kept things fun, and absolutely made the elements work for us.

Their daughter Ella is actually one of my incredible student employees who works alongside me on photo days, helping to professionally pose our dancers so they look absolutely perfect in front of the camera. Getting her on the other side of the lens with her family was a total treat! And oh my goodness... the photos turned out so incredibly beautiful! There is nothing better than authentic laughter, windswept hair, and capturing genuine connection right by the water. 😍✨

Story time: Even professionals make rookie mistakes! 🤦‍♀️😅💨

Last week I was out doing a gorgeous river mini session here in Peace River, and instead of grabbing my deep reflector, I had a brain malfunction and I opted for a modifier that was absolutely not meant for any breeze.

Apparently, I like to live on the edge and learn things the hard way 😂 because my brand new light didn't just blow over once, it took a massive hit THREE times right onto the rocks. 🫣 My poor client and I almost had synchronized heart attacks on the spot because—let’s be honest—Photography gear ain't cheap! LOL Thank you Cathy for letting me share this hilarious photo of you looking like how I felt when that like was hitting the rocks 😂

This story does have a happy ending though and this is exactly why I love and trust Westcott Lighting products so deeply. After taking three brutal falls in the wind and smashing into the rocks, my Westcott light turned right back on and is still working as good as new! 🙌 The durability of their gear is absolute insanity. Talk about a stress test! From now on, I’m sticking to the right modifiers for the job, but it’s an incredible feeling knowing my gear can survive my own stubborn moments 😂

Captured a ton of love through a lot of haze! 🌫️📸

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this incredibly sweet family recently. Even though the wildfire smoke rolled in and gave us some challenging weather, they didn't let it dull their sparkle for a second.

Instead of letting the smog ruin our plans, we leaned into the soft, moody lighting and focused on what really mattered—their laughs, hugs, and connection. Honestly, the hazy air gave the photos a unique, dreamy vibe that I ended up absolutely loving!

Huge thank you to this amazing crew for being such troopers, trusting my vision, and making magic happen despite the air quality.

Last week we kicked off a brand new club in town for young entrepreneurs called Peace Region Future Founders and WOW what a great group of kids we have signed up! Their business ideas are really awesome and we can’t wait to share their business ventures with you all.

Another 5 STARS for Capricho Slice Cakery! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A massive, heartfelt thank you to Capricho slice Cakery for creating another absolutely amazing cake for us! This one was for my granddaughter’s cake smash session, and oh my goodness, it was sooo delicious!!! 😭🤤👶 Not only did it look completely stunning in front of the camera, but it tasted incredible, too.

Behind every major milestone is a mountain of hard work, late nights, and pure hustle. We have been grinding so hard over here behind the scenes to elevate what we do, and today all that dedication paid off with some massive news! 🎉

Heart & Soul Photography is officially the first-ever Westcott Lighting Ambassador right here in Alberta! 🇨🇦🥳🎉

Beyond using this gear for my own work, I am so incredibly excited for the doors this opens for education! I can't wait to show people just how amazing Westcott products are. Did you pick up a copy of the Peace River RCMP Calendar at Peace Playland?

If you did, flip it open because this powerful shot is officially taking over the month of August! It is wild looking at this snowmobile setup in mid-summer, remembering how we braved the cold November temperatures last year to pull this shoot together. It was worth every cold minute to highlight our local detachment.
