Savanna has taught filmmaking from Nunavut to the Gatineau Hills and believes everyone has a story worth telling.

From filming our mini doc series Art to Heart, to covering our events at our gallery and beyond, creating her own films including Trails and Trials, capturing special moments for folks across our region, as well as providing workshops to share her knowledge and skillset with budding filmmakers, Savanna has been enriching and empowering communities through film in a down-to-earth and accessible way around the clock for some time now (lucky us!). Head over to our YouTube channel () to see examples of her wonderful heart-work.

Workshops are in English. Francophone and bilingual youth are welcome to interview a local hero in French and create their film in French.

Lisa is a amazing person and incredible artist. Highly recommend a watch and take a deep dive into her world of little people

Tune in tomorrow for the final episode of Art to Heart which will feature Rupert-based painter, sculptor, and mixed media artist, Lisa Thomas!

Lisa Thomas creates evocative visual narratives that explore the full spectrum of human experience—from the soulful and quirky to the ridiculous and sorrowful. Working in painting, sculpture, mixed media, and installation, she uses each piece to tell stories rather than simply illustrate, inviting viewers to engage with the complexity of her subjects. With decades of experience living and breathing art—teaching children, exhibiting widely, designing murals and public installations, and building mixed media sculptures—Lisa brings an authenticity and raw energy to her work, grounded in both solitude and creative exploration.
