Is it just me or do our children seem to grow faster between September and December than they did all year?

School is back & we’re settling into new routines. The sun is still shining, but the breeze has started to feel a little cooler. Our kids are running around in light sweaters, still barefoot on the porch, and somehow, before we know it, the first snowfall will be here and the magic of Christmas will be rolling in

And I keep thinking to myself, “what if we paused here for just a moment?”

I curated the BLP experience from my own experience as a first time mom.

I forgot to buy hairspray before my son’s newborn session. I didn’t have a dress that I absolutely loved for the body I was in. I also moved into a new home months prior where I wanted my family’s memories to live on our walls.

As a mom with a double major in Forensics & Psychology, as well as a Master’s in Legal Studies, I’ve often found myself viewing social media and photography through a different lens.

A lens that reflects deeply on what it means to preserve a moment in a digital world that remembers everything.

Because the truth is, not every beautiful image needs to reveal identity in order to tell the truth of a moment & our love for our children.

Connection & love absolutely co-exists in faceless imagery, and in many ways, is more meaningful in a digital world.

When you think back to your own childhood, what made your house feel like home? What made you feel, this is where I belong?

For me, it was the photographs. The ones that told the story of life before I arrived, and the ones that quietly reminded me where I came from.

As an Ottawa Maternity, Newborn & Family Photographer, one of the things I value most is helping families preserve their memories in a tangible way — not just digitally, but through beautiful printed artwork that can be seen, held, and passed down for generations.
