We went to Almonte for our annual walk through the Burnt Lands Provincial Park where many hard to find Sparrows breed. We found 3 of the 4 species we were looking for, and surprisingly, 3 Ford trucks!! Carleton Place Ford decided that a bird habitat in a Provincial Park was a good place to test their new off-road toys. I called the Parks People and they assured me they would follow up. I never did hear back from them. I hope they actually did something to stop this craziness.

Once again we went chasing the Canada Warbler at two different trails. We did not find one again.....however, we did find a lifer on this search. We tripped across an Olive-sided Flycatcher. The funny thing was that several birders knew it was in the area but could not find it....until we walked by it on a trail, then things got busy LOL

The bird nerd alarm sounded off that there was a Phalarope in Richmond at the Twin Elm Wetlands. WE were lucky he was still there when we got there. A handful of birders got to see him and then he took off. 10 minutes later and we would have missed him. We saw lots of warblers and shorebirds migrating through as well.

We started our road trip home this day, but first dropped into the Blenheim Lagoons as lots of Shorebirds had been reported there. We found many species of shorebirds, as well as many swallow species and some duck species as a bonus. As we got closer to home we pit stopped above Napanee at a rare habitat that has breeding Loggerhead Shrikes that summer there every year. Once we found our shrike we continued for another couple hours home....Wow, that was lots of miles and lots more birds.

This was one of the busiest days of our tour. We started off following Jon Ruddy of Eastern Ontario Birding to the Point Pelee point, then a couple trails in the park. After lunch we went to Hillmans Marsh to check the action in the cell. After breaking from the group, we went to the east beach, and then found out the White-faced Ibis was back at the marsh so back we went, then to cap the day we drove back to the point and walked out to the tip. Once again we saw over 60 species on this day. We were pooped by the time we got back to the hotel at the end of the day!

We started our day on a Jon Ruddy (Eastern Ontario Birding) tour of the beach were we saw many many gulls with our scope. After that we went on a tour to find warblers, which we found many.. In the afternoon after the tour we went on our own and found more birds. It was a full day; we found a whopping 72 species that day!
